Veteran: Replacement For Smoke Grenade

Don’t replace, improve

More smoke?

Here my pitch: totally same effect, but everyone (including enemies) in the smoke get a helium-like pitch shift effect and sound silly.

Best for using in clutch situations.

I mean that’s kind of the problem is that they are so amazingly niche and don’t work for half the enemies you see on damnation.

I tend to avoid using them being even during a clutch situation I feel like I’m setting my team up for failure against melee enemies if they are shielded against the ranged enemies.

Even then I think frags or Kraks are far more useful for clutch situations that happen on damnation.

You mean “clown” situations?

Damn man, don’t troll that hard

This thread has inspired me to try a close range vet with MF, ExStance with the team tagging talent, and smoke grenades!

While technically possible I think it would constitute as group torture and self flagellation according to several conventions.

Literally just getting there looks like this assuming you don’t care what aura you take.

I named the build accordingly.

This is a PERFECT illustration of how (imo natch) the problem with the vet tree is a lack of interconnectivity and how 2-3 extra points to spend (and ongoing finessing) would make it great.

EDIT: so what I was thinking for this build is actually to use Marksman’s Focus because autopistol totally rips with it. Doing that, I can get the 3 ExStance nodes I want, an extra grenade every minute, and the crabwalk node on MF. I think it’s workable!

I mean in terms of the smoke, they needed to think 40k. Would a 40k smoke grenade have a smaller cloud effect than a real life one? No! It would be absolutely ridiculous, lasting ages and filling an entire room with smoke. At that point, the only sensible thing to do is to give the team a vague outline of all enemies in the smoke and completely blind the enemies. Thats if you want to keep the smoke.

Otherwise, I highly approve the above ideas! Plasma pistol, Inferno pistol, Bolt pistol or the old fashioned Hand Cannon. Any of these would make for a nice sidearm for a Veteran. Love it!
