Right now the power sword still uses the old method of charging the sword after every few swings. I think it would be more fun if we had a charge meter like the power falchion and 2-hand power sword. I don’t even use the powersword anymore after you gave veteran the falchion. The gameplay is more fun with the charge meter.
Hard no. The power falchion was introduced as a new weapon to not step on the toes of what already exists and what some people like myself prefer.
Heat bar sucks bigly IMO. Don’t ruin a
weapon I like when you were already given a variant to your preference. That’s just greedy.
Just use the falchion? Its really confusing seeing this post come up ever so often because the reason they added this weapon was so you could have the relic blade functionality on vet. The other power sword is better yeah, but you have to press more buttons so the juice better be worth that extra squeeze. I kinda like this set up, for the veteran that prefers segmented gameplay and less swapping and maintenace the Falchion works wonders. But if you want more melee prowess, the power sword has the advantage which it absolutely should imo using both constant power cycling and push attacks to put in work. If they do anything overhaul the Scandar to have less awful moves vs Achlys, that one dumps all over the other variant.
I’d rather Fatshark give Power Falchion and Power Sword access to each other’s cosmetics, to be honest. Power Falchion was explicitly introduced as a new Weapon Family so that Veterans would have both kinds of Power Weapon available as options.
If there will be another one type it should be reversed to how power falchion works - battery that recharges passively. Like Kerri’s moonfire bow form V2.
I kind don’t like both button jerk PS and overheating PF and RB.
What would even be the tangible mechanical differences between that and a heat bar? I guess they could come up with new blessings that interact differently eg more power the more full the bar is?
Besides something like that I’m drawing a blank of what a reverse heat bar power weapon would do any different.
Probably there will be no such, i just don’t like that hitech weapon is overheating like i’m playing with something from Dying Light made of scrap and junk (it kinda is)
Potentialy you can make it so charge starts depleting once you draw the weapon out, meaning you can waste timer on fighting with trash mobs and then find yourself with no charge left against armored, instead of the other types have power spike on demand. So you need to calculate and prioritize targets better and give it some pros to compensate such timer.
But it’s more like a stretched logic, i just don’t vibe with overheating power weapons as i’ve said above.

Once you experience how smooth the heat bar feels its hard to go back to pressing the charge button 1000 times a mission. If you get interrupted the charge goes away. At the very least they could give it a buff that makes a certain amount of swings charged so it doesn’t get removed the moment you get pushed. I don’t think it feels good to play.
They already created a weapon to cater to your preference.

I’ll be generous and assume this is not intended as condescension. To be clear though, I’ve played both types plenty, and I do quite like power falchion overall, I use it on a few ranged heavy loadouts.
I just like the OG better and don’t want it morphed over to the new system. There’s space enough for both to exist. You won’t convince me to like the heat bar more and you’ve already got your toys, so to speak, let me keep mine.
This. Some people like the gameplay loop of one more than the other. I find both to be enjoyable even if I marginally prefer Power Falchion over Power Sword. I think that giving them access to each other’s cosmetics (like Kickback and Rumbler) have would be a cool way to get “Heat-based” Power Swords and “Activation-based” Power Falchions. ![]()
If PS really need something its dmg buffed to trash mobs and maybe more enegized attacks.
I like the idea of auto block on charge up.
But personally i would love to see it get better mobility, no slow down on activation, and better dodges.
I used to bring the power sword into H40, but the last few times i used it i was thinking “I hope we wipe so i dont have to deal with this damn weapon for a full mission” the entire time.
Also, for the love of god why does power weapons de-activate when you get hit?
