In my opinion, the Outlaw strikes as one of the more three dimensional personalities, disgusted by the state of Atoma and genuinely trying to do good for it, but deciding that the best way is through the Conclave. Genuinely a nice person and tries to get along with most of the other personalities and, in my opinion, seems to even try to get along with the Arbitrators sometimes.
Also does anyone else think that the Outlaw should shout, “For The Emperor!” Or at least, “For Saint Messelina!” I think it would add more to the characters personality.
fem outlaw is way too shrill and abrasive for me, my least favourite personality of the dlc after male anarch (which sounds too chill for what he’s trying to convey).
Male outlaw is the best male one in my opinion, he sounds very chill and down to earth and probably the most empathetic of the bunch, but still scum at the end of the day, I could see him becoming a zealot or something if this was a story/character driven rpg.
Funny, I like the male Outlaw but also feel the exact opposite, of what you said, about the Female Outlaw. If Darktide had main characters, she would definitely be my pick for main Hive Scum character.
It’s more of the way she sounds to my ears is very grating, not bashing the VA at all, and if that’s more your speed, more power to you. I also can’t stand fem fanatic or fem loner for similar reasons, high pitchy squeaky screamy women just trigger me IG.
Funnily enough, fem anarch is very screamo but it’s so intense, high energy and believable in her delivery that I feel she is the best or “main” hive scum personality IMO and doesn’t trigger me at all.
You know, I’m much more of a guy who likes personalities who are not over the top. Types like Male Fatalist, Heavy, Male Savant or Female Judge. The only outlier in that regard would be the Male Loose Canon, but to me his personality is much deeper than he makes himself out to be, which puts him above someone like Female Professional in my book.
I also share your sentiment about high, squeaky voices. That’s also why I really adore when personalities like Male Loner or Female Fanatic get to stop screeching and deliver some more calm, quiet-spoken lines where their voices don’t sound so high-pitched compared to how they sound when screaming.
Yeah, My favourites are the edgy-but-believable ones usually, Bully ogryn, Fem maul, fem cutthroat, fem fatalist. I also like fem savant over any other psyker voice, fem judge is the best for “sororitas at home” larp. Male Loose Canon is cheating bc the VA did so much imperial guard VA in the past is not fair to the other veteran VAs, he’s gonna be the best hands down.
I wish female outlaw would speak only on her calm/serious voice like the male does, but instead she always deliver her lines like she is singing in a play or something, doesn’t sound natural or very immersive in my opinion, but the actress voice itself is good, just not directed to how I would enjoy it.
The only moment where I internally get taken out of the game is when I hear one of her Rampage lines.
Just playing and chilling and suddenly I hear:
“YeAaAh, LeT’s Go!”.
I don’t know what it is, but the way that line is delivered makes me feel pain inside (no offense to the VA, offense to whoever directed her to deliver that line in such a way).
It is funny that I disagree with basically everyone in this thread on the best voices - I really like the over-the-top ones like Male Loner or Female Fanatic, and I really hate the boring, dry ones (like all the cops or both savant psykers). Female Bounty Hunter is the most offensive and criminally boring HS personality to me.
And funnily enough, when I heard her for the first time I started to worry how is FatShark going to keep adding all these new personalities and not only keep each one unique but also differentiate the Male and Female versions so they both feel fleshed out.
I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that some personalities like Female Bounty Hunter or Male Anarchist will be left behind when it comes to getting new dialogues.
