The new shotgun and bolter pistol are not particularly functional

Issue Type (Required):

Weapons

Issue Description (Required):

For the new double-barreled shotgun, if you fire it (either mode works) and swap to your melee (maybe other items too?) shortly after, the camera will pull itself all the way to Orlando to visit Mickey and Goofy. The camera also realigns itself in a similar manner when doing it with the revolver and old shotguns, but it’s not nearly as aggressive and it seems to be an issue that has always existed, but just now we got a gun that exacerbated it to the point of making it genuinely unusable.

For the bolter pistol, when you ADS, the aim goes to a seemingly random location within a small circle, not being centered on the screen and not being consistent to fire quick shots with. I’m sure many people can tell stories of missing a weirdly high amount of shots with it and I believe this is one of the problems. Hipfire seems to be kinda weird and random too, and I’ve actually managed to miss headshots on a full poxwalker horde three times somehow. The ADS also seems to suffer a weird aim jerking with movement, which I uploaded on a separate video because I just found it now while goofing around a bit and I am overcome with dread.

Would be cool to have those fixed so the weapons become cooler and better and more responsive and nice to use and all that.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

For the new shotgun:

  1. Fire shotgun with either mode
  2. Swap weapon immediately after firing
  3. Camera does an anime teleport in front of your very eyes

For the bolter pistol:

  1. Aim down sights
  2. Well gosh darn, it don’t seem to be centered
  3. Fire and likely miss horribly
Easier to see with a crosshair mod (Crosshair Remap) enabled because those show exactly where the weapon is aiming during ADS (tried without).

and

  1. Aim down sights
  2. Alternate firing and moving around a bit while ADSed and watch the gun suddenly aim itself likely away from the enemy

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

Yes, and I’ve tried disabling them

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

was about to open a new post aswell, just throwing this in here. Makes me actual motion sick.

I can second the motion sickness from the shotty, single shots bother me the most but double shots are okay.

The bolter also has the same buggy ADS but it is much worse on the pistol, they need to fix both of them.

I am going to insert myself here and just say that they increased previous bolter clip size from 15/75 to 15/100 so it’s at least a bit more bearable…

edit: I watched the clips and shotgun is real but bolter pistol is your aim… 2nd vid you miss most shots, true bolter round should rip at close range imagine 0.5 cal that turns to dust combatans in the vicinity… I never had issues with bolter … maybe because it kicks and just rips to shreds.

edit 2: I did play with someone using bolter pistol and he was pretty good with it

Dimenz, I really don’t think you watched the videos, because you can clearly see the bolter pistol ADS just goes into some random direction and that’s kind of the opposite of what ADS should do to a gun in a videogame, specially when standing still and doing literally no mouse movements whatsoever.

The second video in particular has the bolter pistol doing what the other bolter did (does it still do that?), which is suddenly jerk the weapon into some random direction through no actual input of the player, or recoil from the gun. If you look closely at the shots I take when the pistol has 3 and less shots in the mag, there’s a very obvious jerk that happens before the weapon even fires, and I don’t claim to be a gun expert, but I think the weapon is supposed to kick after the shot comes out, not before.

I don’t think the “I saw someone being good with the weapon” is any indication of it not having a problem, because I play weapon specialist vet and even with the shotgun camera bug, the gun still rips through enemies and is a phenomenal synergy, but me being able to readjust the camera after every single swap shot doesn’t mean the problem suddenly stops existing. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not need to correct mistakes the game does for me, as I’ve documented in the two videos.
