In the latest hot-fix 1.12.3, there was basically only one fix:
- Fixed missing auto-aim on Advanced Combat Doctrines when shooting targets moving sideways.
I swear that is the biggest understatement I’ve seen in a patch, because it didn’t just fix the “Advanced Combat Doctrines” ability, it fixed the poorly hit-registration that caused ranged weapons to constantly get fake hitmarker when shooting enemies dead center in the head, completely aside from the ACD ability.
Forget about the aimbot ability, I’ve played Darktide since the Beta and the bad hit-registration was there since day one but in the last two days since the hot-fix, using precision weapons like the Vigilante Autogun has been a blast. I’ve played so many rounds and the hit-registration feels better than ever, especially on moving or idle enemies.
That being said, now that it works properly, can we please get a Sniper Rifle or at least a scoped Marksman Rifle, because I’m convinced the main reason we never got one is because of the constant fake hits that would have been so painfully obvious with such weapons. Please give us a long-las, I have so many Scab Snipers to pay some headshots back.
Unless they changed something server side, which is certainly possible, I don’t think anything changed here.
If this is true I can finally go back to Vet.
Yeah when I was constantly forced to rebuild capacitance with an empty bar from the unfortunate bug of a shot completely draining all capacitance instead of lowering ability uses by 1 I noticed hit reg was a lot better, seems more client authoritative. Still wish I could enjoy ECD without random terror inflicted by the ability bar draining totally, but this is much better.
Maybe they can sell a class that really suffers from input eating and finally fix that…
The reason we don’t get scoped rifles in this game is the same why vigilant and helbore are among the least popular weapons in it - they don’t match its pace and distances of engagement. I’ll say even more - in Helldivers 2 which offer generally lower pace and larger distances, scoped sniper rifles are among the least popular and used weapons too (except Eruptor which is effectively used as DT’s Plasma Gun there and mostly shot in no-scope mode). Those weapons just don’t align with hoard shooters well, making them too niche. And FS hardly needs to add some ultra-niche weapon which won’t be used by 90% of its playerbase.
I can’t say if they changed it server side or if it was in the patch, but I can guarantee you 100% that it has been fixed. I mostly use precision weapons and when shooting enemies that haven’t seen the player yet and play their idle animations, you had like a 50% chance of a fake hit probably due to animation mismatch. However, since the patch, I’ve shot countless of idle enemies in the head and haven’t got a single fake hit.
I totally get your point, but at the same time those weapons that are supposed to be marksman rifles in the game have the worst sights, which is kind of ironic. The Helbore is better with the new sight it got with the last buff and actually works very good in the right hands, even in Havoc. As for the Vigilante, if they just slap on a 4x Acog scope with a good reticle and give it better suppression resistance, I could see it actually having a good place in the game against the shooters and snipers that hide on long range. Vermintide had lots of high zoom weapons and they worked good, despite not having shooter enemies all over the place. The guns just had simple reticles and the hit-reg worked there from the beginning.
