Hello, Forum. I don’t know if anybody has made a topic about this yet (I didn’t find one at a glance).
The UI indicator for the Hive Scum’s special stim is bad. Because it looks similar to the other UI elements on the right side of the screen: transparent, with shades of green and grey - the state of the stim is barely recognisable at a glance. I personally need to really focus on the stim icon to understand whether it’s on cooldown or not, and even then, the cooldown itself is unclear.
The colour palette is also a problem. Finite blitzes have distinct, bold red or white numbers near their icons that give the player instant information. The stim, meanwhile, uses a transparent mix of grey and green that are barely distinguishable even with focused vision. In the heat of battle(especially on maps with similar colour palettes and on a not so bright monitor) there is almost no way to immediately tell whether the stim is ready, or even roughly how long remains until it recharges.
This really hurts the enjoyment of the class, which is also paid content on top of the base game.
Suggestions:
- Make the “in cooldown” state of the stim much more contrasting compared to the “ready” state. For example, use bold red like the empty blitz indicators.
- Make the cooldown much clearer at a glance - similar to combat ability indicators, the leading edge of the cooldown bar could be made more visually distinct.
- Alternatively, replace the bar entirely with a big, bold red number that counts down the cooldown, similar to how some mods display ability cooldowns.
- If it doesn’t already exist (I’m only level 22 with Hive Scum), add an audio cue in addition to the white flashing of the icon when the stim becomes ready again.
Please, Fatshark, improve this.
