Talents: Field Improvisation, Blades of Faith and Crunch

I’ve been playing for 20-30 hours since the patch, tried a few build every class. In 3 of 4 classes I found a talent that feels like it’s not complete or overlooked, I’ll list them by class down below. I’ve got 500 hours before the patch and play exclusively T5 quickplay (no maelstorm)

1. Veteran

Nope I was wrong about this one
  • Field Improvisation:
This talent only works when I deploy the med/ammo pack. But there’s no way for my teammates to know that I have the talent, nor is it viable for them to transfer the item to me.
Sure I can type or VOIP every game to tell my teammates to leave those to me, but I don’t think it should work like that.

Suggestion:
Either make it possible for others to know when someone has this talent, or make this a team-wide buff?

Note: The same can be said for the 5% grenade replenish aura talent, but it’s not that big of a deal yet.

2. Zealot

  • Blades of Faith:
I can’t find a situation where the knife is useful. The TTK on specials is too long, and it doesn’t have enough impact to stagger them either.
I’m not sure if there’s any other talent synergizes with it, or it is where it should be.
imo either higher impact or faster fire rate would make it usable. (So far in all my quickplay games, I haven’t met any one actively using it)

3. Ogryn

  • Crunch!
I tried this one in psykhanium, and I didn’t notice anything different before/after picking this talent. (powermaul no charge heavy atk on mauler)
Is it a bug or I didn’t understand how it supposed to work?

I didn’t find anything too weird with Psyker’s talents. Although imo spamming assail feels easier to get overheat than other warp-based weapon for some reason.

Just to clarify what’s expected here…

  • are you expecting allies to get the bonus from your deployables, or
  • just you get the bonus from anyone’s deployables?

I think the latter is how it’s meant to work, but I’m not sure what the exact situation you’re describing is

EDIT: Oh, hang on. I deployed an ammo box as a Zealot and got grenades. That’s extremely handy. Granted, it was at the end of the mission, so I only got to dump nades on the poxwalker train, but still… good times.

I’ve only tried it on the Psykhanium, but it seemed to end specials quickly with a headshot.

Field Improvisation - I expect the deployed thing heals/replenishes for the whole team (it’s on the “team support” talent tree afterall)
Blades of Faith - Yeah headshot works. But I don’t think headshot bonus is meaningful to most. Since you don’t get a scope like laser rifles, and the quick throw thing (considering zealot combat style) means it’s not supposed to be carefully aimed every time.

Blades of Faith : “deal high damage to a single enemy”.

Does not kill a common scab gunner on bodyshot… Takes like 4 knifes bodyshots to kill an elite gunner. If you dont headshot it feels like a pea shooter.

I was about to say, that’s not how it works.

Any deployable gets these modifiers. The talent doesn’t specify that the corresponding veteran needs to deploy them and only states that the deployables now do extra stuff.

Oh so it does work on the whole team? I just noticed today that the med pack with this talent still won’t heal real wounds (from down), so when I thought it didn’t work, it might just be a wound rather than who deployed it.
Thanks for the info.

The whole healing wounds thing is a missconception, though understandable since the talent describtion does a bad job at specifying.

Cleansing corruption and healing wounds is not the same thing.
It lets you cleanse partial corruption up to the next wound.

The “Beacon of purity” aura from zealot also works this way.

This interaction is not explained anywhere and not 100% logical but it would be too good imho.
