Oh yes.
I understand Psykers, but, having come back after a half year Hiatus, and without the recent experience of what I like and can work with, I was rather miffed they reset the Veteran Talent tree for something as simple as changing ONE Talent (I mean, removing a choice from the active talents can’t possibly be the reason, right? RIGHT? They could have just refunded that).
And that was before I noticed that the same happened to Ogryn.
Honestly I’d much rather they didn’t change either of those trees. For Psykers, they at least meaningfully added things and removed something a lot of people might have used to path - it’s understandable there.
I was kind of excited to try out the new map. Then I log in and FS is all like “Sike! You have to spend 15 minutes staring at menus first because we wiped your builds again!”.
Yeah, this is totally infuriating, and that’s an understatement. If there was a way to see the old trees, I would like that. If I could have known the trees would be reset, I’d have taken screenshots.
genuinely going to play Darktide less because I don’t have time to redo all my talent trees - I checked, I have 24 loadouts with no talent tree points in them. So no, it’s not trivial to redo them all, and I’m far less likely to return because of it
I love the game, but I feel like it is against me.
Incidentally, the new mastery system is just messy, so many screens, too many numbers, no direct link to inventory, changed weapon names… I could go on.
I never thought I’d say this, but thank the emperor Space Marine 2 is here.
what’s actually happening is they’re replacing several things in the tree and mechanically leaving your old build would cause problems since it’s now leading to code that isn’t there anymore, to make sure they don’t crash things by accident they have to reset you point allocations just in case. yeah, they have the same names as the stuff they replaced but the code is jankier than that.
I refuse to believe there’s not a way they could communicate this was going to happen, or some option where we can have the old nodes highlighted, or have them screenshot dump the old trees into a local folder. It’s lazy, and it frankly stopped me playing the game. I have no problems updating a tree when I know what the base is, but don’t ask me to completely redo 24 trees from memory. Ain’t happening.
it’s frustrating for sure. however the best skill tree is the one you built knowing exactly why, and what every node does. you might even build better trees by just trying what works best for you.
