Suggestion: Sound Setting to mute explosions sound

Hello Im not sure this is the correct subforum to post this suggestion but I would like to ask please to have an option in Darktide “Sound Settings” to mute or reduce the sound of all explosions in this game…

I say this because I want to play the VoidBlast psyker staff, I believe its a funny weapon, but I cant because after the 3000 thunderous explosion of the day it is genuinely giving me tinnitus… Im serious it hurts my ears and becomes a health hazard… and currently the only solution is to lower the volume level to a safe point where the player cannot actually hear those pesky trappers and hounds coming from behind

I think an option in the sounds settings to mute, reduce or change explosions sound volume in Darktide would be a great idea

Thank you

–EDIT:

Also I would like to add firing other weapons aside explosives can be a very deafening experience in this game

For example the most fun I currently have in Darktide is playing Veteran with Accatran Recon Lasgun, with the correct ammo and laser perks you just hold the trigger at the start of the match and release it at the end… its almost a continous shooting for 30 minutes straight and even if its not a very noisy weapon after so much time I asure you the player ears suffer the consequences

Melee weapons dont escape this problem too, it happens when you do a melee heavy attack your character will scream an effort grunt “every-single-time”… which is not as bad as explosions and firearms but it certainly is very annoying after the first thousand heavy swings

I honeslty think these things should be revised and some QOL settings in the sound menu like volume sliders for firearms and explosions would greatly improve the gaming experience

Thanks again

I think having different sliders for voices and other sound effects would be a great start.

You could lower the volume and use spidey sense mod for disablers only.

Check in the sound settings. I don’t recall the option name but one of the drop downs is for equalizer settings and one of the options is ‘nighttime mode’ or something like that.

It takes a lot of the intensity of the explosions and gunfire out. I use it and it takes the edge off of the explosions but I still hear trappers just fine.

Protect your ears, you only get 2 of them.

definitely. the game can get noisy, to the point that i had difficulties understanding discord chat. especially when box o hurt goes off. had to lower the overall game volume.

The setting is Audio Mix Presets, and the option is Nightmode.

Make sure you don’t have any Windows sound enhancements like Bass Boost, and if you have SW with a gaming headset see if you can turn Bass down or have an equalizer you can adjust.

Something like Peace+Equalizer APO can help too. By default, too many gaming headsets have bass cranked to 11 for the CoD teenager I guess, it’s obnoxious and muddies the sounds.

Quite frankly a lot of the issues are user induced, not saying OP, just users in general and there are often easy fixes to improve things without resorting to cheats.

Derp, Seems I could have saved time and just linked this:

Move some sliders around and you can get things to sound the way they’re supposed to, including specials not getting drowned down by bass that’s boosted outside of the game.
P.S. worth checking out the other solutions to turn down bass before using nightmode presets (over-compressed).
