'Streak' Penance Feedback Post-Patch

I’m going to try to be succinct.

So now if you ever step into a mission, and then leave/disconnect/alt+f4/crash before it is outright CLEARED and you see the VICTORIOUS screen, then, you get punished with a broken streak now?

I assume this is for Havoc purposes and in the process it also caught all the Auric penances too, and all the rest possibly?

But there are some timezones and regions with not a lot of players in them, so. Sometimes I will just load into a mission with one other player. Does that mean that I have no choice but to try and duo the mission or lose my streak…? Oftentimes I have to literally open a game then sit there for like 5-10 minutes just waiting for people to join. And sometimes they do. But.

But, often people NEVER join. And I just have to leave and try to queue into a different difficulty. Does that mean if I try to queue into a mission, I am literally stuck there and have to solo Auric Maelstrom, or lose my streak?

What about the occasions when you’ll open a mission and load into a hellzone where the game is already in a fail state? It’s not like that was YOUR fault, you just loaded in and because you don’t have a choice of which game you join when you hit the join button, that means you’re just guaranteed a reset on your streak just because you loaded in with half of one wound left and a near fully corrupted healthbar because you just took the place of some other player or a bot who was failing miserably along with the rest of the doomed party.

If you’re going to alter the game so no one has any possibility to ‘cheese’ it by simply leaving if things get too close to a fail, then… I propose the following changes to the related penances.

Auric Storm Survivor
Complete 5 Auric Maelstrom missions without dying.

Untouchable Operative I
Complete 5 Auric missions without dying.

Untouchable Operative II
Complete 10 Auric missions without dying.

You get the idea from this I am sure. This should be followed through for other penances similar to this as well, such as Flawless Execution. Just by eliminating ‘consecutive’ we just fix every problem with it.

I can tell you right now that for some players, like me, there’s simply no possibility to ever clear these penances in the future with the way things are now. And I don’t think that’s fair, or fun. I mean it’s bad enough now, that a lot of players who would have been doing Aurics and Maelstrom before, are now probably going to abandon them for Havoc… making something that was already challenging even more impossible on top of the fact that now you seriously can never leave or have connection problems.

I’m still mad about this by the way.

It’s bad enough that so many of the other penances in Darktide are, dare I say, utterly toxic not just to your team but to you as a player, teaching you to play the game in incorrect ways (throwing smokes at snipers for instance) but the fact that many of them just rely on you to… get good teammates? In quickmatch?

I mean, even if you want to use party finder you still can’t see what all your teammates are bringing unless you want to grill them extensively before you even queue, and since a lot of people who want to just play Maelstrom are never gonna even open the party finder, it’s not exactly helpful to just say ‘use party finder’ or whatever.

Why does it have to be so tedious like this?

lets not forget how bad these servers are by which you are disconnecting while you’re down and you reconnect and surprise! you lost your streak! why? because they forgot that their servers is trash to say the least.
