Spanish Article on future plans/itemisation

Highlights:

This means that each weapon will have its own progress bar until we reach the maximum level, one that we should not follow if we do not want that same weapon for our build, but that seeks to offer a more constrained experience where we always have control. “We want to create a link between the players and the items, so that the players feel close to what they get,” the studio mentioned, and for that they will move away from Vermintide 2 to have a system of items and individual elements, and for this they will They have added new Blessings to the game and increased the number to twelve Blessings per weapon.

Some considerations:

  • Is mastery earned for the specific weapon (ie. you have to use the incomplete weapon), the weapon type/family or is it a generic currency like Athanor?
  • Can you choose what to put onto the weapon as you unlock things when progressing along the mastery track?

Mod said they misclicked:

While we have a lot of blessings not used/efficient, I am not sure they can balance and make all 20 blessings interesting.

blessings points, progression bar etc…
I just hope they don’t think I will start from scratch:

BUT, if we can get ANY weapon we want… this could be ok for me.

Grinding solely for the purpose of grinding.

Is this truly what people want?

I used to play World of Warcraft, and the lengths Blizzard went to develop grinding, which was then offset by catch-up systems (Blizzard used to love their systems, that’s all they talked about), made everyone upset until Blizzard began to (now) back down on their design.

Am I in the wrong here?

I’ll grant that if the upgrading and item/blessing (blessings are not interesting at all currently IMO) acquisition are interesting enough that you have control over what weapon you obtain and the upgrade pathways allow you to personalize your weapon in unique ways, it can be fun but if it’s just grinding for the sake of grinding, why bother?

Yeah, an increased blessing pool is good as long as you can pick them as you gain mastery. Talk of new blessings were being looked at with a side-eye in the current system because all they did was inflate the pool.

What people want is to not have to deal with bricked weapons.

the weapon penance system

well, there it is. apparently it took like 30 years and we couldn’t break locks, like lmao if they put more blessings in the game its the same thing as us not being able to take our current god or whatever guns forward. dunno why locks still have to exist, for the 2+ months after they drop more weapons. this just confirms how stupid and pointless they (always) were.

I reiterate, break the locks.

I’d say it depends on the type of game

Warframe is entirely grind and nothing else and is pretty successful

Tide games absolutely don’t fit the bill for that kind of thing though.

That’s what makes me afraid… must say that, if we have to level every weapon and that’s it takes ages to level each of them… then I am not sure I could find the motivation to continue playing.
I hate grinding, I have levels, I hate experience points.

I know a lot of you don’t know what is a paper roleplaying game, but I hated AD&D (and D&D) and I loved Cyberpunk 2020 and developed my own system where there was no level, only skills.
I have always hated the concept of levels. So, must admit I am really worried to see that…
And more worried cause:

  1. This article should be HERE in this forum. Why we are always the lasts to be informed???
  2. As always, we have some informations and a lot is under a “fog of war”. That’s begin to be really boring/annoying such repeating situation.
  3. Communication: better than nothing… but you can do better. Explain us what you are about to give us. I don’t want to guess, I want to read a clear description of what we will get.

You want to compare a move to break everything around missions with a system that handle everything around crafting?
I have same concerns like you… however, breaking the locks is absolutely not a solution.

Not in Darktide, I don’t want even more grind. No reason to make things even worse.

Truth. The fact is that bricked weapons aren’t the root of the problem. The problem is how harshly the current system inhibits the availability of build experimentation.

Excessive grind for each and every weapon wouldn’t fix the problem, it’d just put a new face on it.

Yes, because this article is basically saying that your grind starts whenever we drop this update. Do we need people standing at events not doing them mashing through arbitary kill numbers to gear? Can we really not just allow people to reset a weapon, or break locks?

I can’t even believe this was the summation of all their work and reworkings. A Call of Duty attachment style grind from MW2 era.

I doubt they’d use kill counts as the progression mechanism. More likely it’s some new form of currency like what we already have.

Look, i am totally in favor of same stats for all weapons… But we know we won’t have it.

Now, as always, we cannot understand the full system. This could be a masterpiece, or the worst system ever created.

What I would not forgive them is that they did not ask us any input and have not associated us when creating this system.
So, if they fail… I won’t be kind with them and won’t forgive them.

God I wish, I really do not care for the whole stat distribution system at all. The end result is just aiming for the meta/optimal stat spread and that’s it, it doesn’t add any actual depth

If they make same stats for every weapons they’ll likely want to introduce back the character power level

No and Yes.

TLDR FS is stuck half baking every idea in a vain attempt to polish a turd.

Fatshark has failed with Darktide’s Replay-ability vs Grinding discussion. This is a fine line. The want to play vs the feeling of grinding. Im sure most of gamers has felt this turning point in a game they’re currently enjoying. Approaching the sense of grind while playing will bring you to a point of “What is this for?”.

Darktide doesn’t have this luster for me to continue. Yes, I will re-install a week or two after the forums collapse from the terrible stability issues when the new map hits tomorrow just to play it once. Im suprised FS hasnt attempted a money grab outside of MTX.

The mistake was the devs choice to move away from V2 so drastically, not with combat, just everything else.

This is why I’m confident this is another change for new players. Just parsing the supposed improvements it sounds like blessing acquisition QoL. The picture shown still has ugly lock icons, suggesting that still the only thing of relevance would be pulling the right perks and blessings. Aka the same system, but you would be able to improve base score by grinding with the weapon type (I’m guessing because forcing one particular archetype weapon only would be AIDS).

So yeah I’d still rather have some way to work with the decent weapons around the kark damned locks.

THIS
Too many times i’ve seen the CMs post updates and news on twitter, reddit and unrelated sites while completely ignoring their own official forum.
This is just ridiculous.

The weapon score system has caused more friction with players more than anything. I’ve even caught myself rolling my eyes when I see someone with a base “grey” item in the lobby.

The weapon system doesnt even have the typical phone game or MMO grind of log in everyday for a fraction of a power level increase. It just dead stats. Im assuming this is the “changes” they are trying to implement and delayed. lol

If you can save mastery like Athanor and it’s not locked to the specific weapon, or weapon family, then it’ll just be like VT2 where after you’ve played enough you have enough mastery to essentially make whatever you want when you want.

Again, it all depends on the details: how siloed is mastery, what you do with the mastery, do you choose the specific blessing/perk when you reach the progression track that gives you said blessing/perk.
