So about Solo Mode

No. Its solo mode not offline mode. Even in solo mode in the VT2 your player data is always kept on FS servers not locally. This could open the doors to people hacking in resources like plasteel/diamantine since those are mission pickups and you could probably just spawn an unlimited amount… But like honestly who the hell cares? Plasteel/diamantine is practically free and only effects the first like ~20-50 hours of progression.

Which changes what?
You would still be going through the same checksums to ensure that cheating doesn’t take place.

The extra work to do the checksums? No clue ultimately. I don’t claim that I’m right. This was a thread throwing out reasons for why there’s no solo mode and one potential reason is that Fat Shark looked at it, decided the solo mode hosted locally conflicted somehow with their server hosting mode and hosting server instances for solo players is economically less favorable.

make em a “use button” one click instead of the full auspex cycle as a true solo no-bot or make bots configurable with your characters/loadouts

problem solved in my opinion.

oddly enough space marine 2 at least has this covered, even with annoying occupational tasks like the explosive charges in “decapitation” etc.

batteries at power matrix for example is perfectly doable and still something to keep a player busy without having him standing there :eggplant: in hand.

so is destroying the nurgle wall gunk in relay station

If only Fatshark made a game where bots weren’t useless, could follow commands, carry stuff and were customisable.

Alas…

Yeah if the VT2 model could come across we could outfit our bots with other character’s gear / talents and classes… it might actually make me roll more arbites for police escort or ogryn for body guards

I cannot imagine GW would have any interest denying a solo mode, particularly given the realities of other games.

The most likely reason is server load issues. Darktide isn’t hosted client-side like VT2, but runs on Amazon hardware leased by Fatshark, and a game hosting a single player is more expensive than one hosting 2/3/4.

another weird and lost technology from the “dark age”

back in 99 bots in UT and quake 3 would to an extend remember and adjust to your patterns shown over a certain numbers of matches against em.

for example you had a favorite route to red armor and rail, they’d try to intercept that or beat you to it based on spawn locations.

now having my favorite pattern across every map and preferred points of engagements on every class, how hard could it be to make my scum-bot, vet-bot, zealot-bot tag along the ogryn in play in both pace and behavior?

given that I ran each map a hundred times by now?

edit for sleep deprived and med induced typos :face_with_bags_under_eyes:
