Singleplayer with Bots

Since the release, I have 40€ on Steam waiting to buy Darktide.
I played the Beta and was shocked to see that there was no single player available at launch.
I couldn’t wrap my mind around it that they don’t had it for Darktide after the almost perfect variant of single player in Vermintide II.
They promised to implement a single player mode within 1 month after release. Since then, I’m waiting for it and it’s over 1 year.
It became like a daily ritual for me to look into the forums and hope for some news about it. I know that they wrote some time ago that single player is no priority for them anymore, but is all hope lost?
Will this game really be always a forced multiplayer game?
I don’t want to discuss the pro and cons of single player. I don’t care why some people think that playing with random people online is a superior form of play style.
All I want to know is if it’s worth to hope, furthermore?

I don’t think so.

They posted about it some updates ago, that it isn’t a priority for them to implement singleplayer mode at the moment.
But with Fatshark you never know… They could implement it in the next update, they also could just ignore the demand and their own word on it and implement it in some years down the line, like they did with versus mode in VT2  Or they never will.

But my guess is singleplayer won’t be coming in 2024.

get vpn, and log on from antarktica

The last time they talked about this they stated “it isn’t a priority right now” so maybe it will come some day - maybe never. But anytime soon is extremely unlikely.

Probably best to forget about it. They don’t want people taking up servers solo, and playing off the servers would open up the game for cheating resources in, which they clearly don’t want.

There are however ways to play solo. Look up the mod “many more try”. It allows you to play missions from 10+ hours ago which nobody can quickplay onto but for some reason they remain hosted. You can join them via the mod, but nobody else can, so it’s effectively solo play with bots. If you really dont want the bots either you can let them die at the start.

Now you might ask “If Fatshark wont implement solo because it takes up too much server space, then why do they have hundreds of lobbies hosted and up that are only joinable via an obscure mod?”. If you find an answer to that question let me know. Fatshark probably doesnt even really realize this.

i hope when they realize they have 200 something lobbies that can’t be conctrated chugging their bandwidth and remove the offending mods you come clean with telling them.

i mean if you don’t i’ll take credit for the banter potential but it’d be funnier that way.
