But there are exceptions to the blessing, such as Uncanny Strike, the principle of this blessing is not to attach a debuff to the enemy, but to apply a tearing effect on the enemy for itself, so you can successfully treat the shield of the company boss as unarmored and improve the damage to the shield

It would be interesting to learn if the shield has an armor class associated with it, but melee does 3x damage to the captain’s shield as it is. It also has like a 6% max health damage cap per hit on it. As it was explained to me by a dev in a previous discussion about brittleness and rending interactions, a weapon would need to have a >1 armor mod value to the shield for it to have any impact.

rending and brittleness don’t change the armor class. It just adjusts the damage you or others do to a particular armor type, depending on the weapon’s penetration values against that armor type (that aren’t visible in the game). +rending and brittleness are the same thing, but rending% is a different and stacking interaction with brittleness.
