'Shadows Over Bögenhafen’ - Patch 1.2 beta now live on PC

No please no… and no…

FS had so much time to patch and TEST the DLC-patch. If the most bugs are not fixed this evening, they did the same mistake again. (roadmap…)

The game was playable, the challenges worked and next to 1-2 weapons on every character, all worked quite fine. Yes there were some bugs, but nothing that killed that game experience or were just rare issues. I will never understand, why ppl left V2 cause of bugs. Next to this DLC-patch, the whole game was great and beautiful.
I mean… this patch feels like “oh… the playerbase fall, let´s give out some non-tested content.”
I´m fine to test things by myself, but the half of the maps are unplayable, due to game-crashes or they don´t count on the dailies/challenges.
Halescourge is like a 100% crash for clients. The new maps don´t work with the okri challenges. CoD gives out a free legendary challenge…
Those things could´ve been prevented, if FS would´ve take 1 day, to test the maps on their own. I really really prefer to fight a troll for 15mins, instead of 30min gaming and the game crashes 10m before the bridge of shadows.

I always told… TAKE YOUR TIME AND TEST YOUR STUFF! So do this FS and stop making the same mistake over and over again… I´m on your side FS, so don´t rush it everytime…

Btw it will be a shame, if you get a crash in your live-stream this evening…

Something I truly don’t understand, also. I mean, you take your sweet time on everything, no communication at all, stuff is already not up to par and still more or less EA-level of quality (not that this is inherently a bad thing, but that’s the name of the game), then you announce DLC in not even a fortnight and give one week of betatesting. The beta before release was too short by far, also.

Beating a dead horse at this point. You do your thing, FS, you’re nice guys and have a good art department.

We criticize that they always make like one week beta get bug reports, feedback and notice about serious balance issues and then launch it without having fixed at least the most game breaking of them all. It was like this after the closed beta and after the 1.0.8 beta.
This patch has to nail it if this game wants to regain a higher player base and not linger around with 4000 average.
What I just don’t understand is why not update the beta with bug fixes to see if they really work.

Delaying release would obviously extend the beta and you could continue to play it.
Not gonna happen instead it’s going to be a live beta:

This is what happens when you lump together new content with, lots of changes and bug fixes instead of just releasing smaller incremental patches… You get a lot of new bugs that might not be discovered until many people get their hands on a beta or similar…
Personally I prefer sticking to schedule and releasing today which seems to be the plan since the steam page still says that. But in the future I would prefer if less stuff were lumped together with each release instead so that we get fewer new bugs at a time so that they can be fixed quickly after being discovered.

I haven’t understood this myself. I’ve been in the V2 beta from the first phase and although I wasn’t much of a contributor to the bug-hunt, others have done a splendid job finding the pesky stuff. We also provided tons of feedback concerning the UI (especially crafting). And then came release day, only minor stuff was fixed (the loud landing noise for example), but the really problematic stuff (still looking at you, UI!) is still around months after, while the game is still missing features promised for release.

Long story short: dear Fatshark, please ensure that there is a time period between beta and release that gives you enough time to fix the newly found & significant bugs. You are just shooting yourself in the knee with going straight to release from beta.

Don´t get me wrong… i just don´t want an extended beta or something like that. I want that FS stop making the same mistake over and over again and test their stuff on their own. Beta-patches are not necessary, if it´s no serverstresstest or a “balance-question”.

Well they went the correct way, because every lil patch will bring more work and probably more issues /hotfixes. They just need to start to test it, before they call out any release dates etc.

I reported probably the most bugs in that game and it´s like "thx darth, we´ll take care of that, here is a DLC with 2 new maps, but you can´t play 5 of the old maps, due to game crashes. But really thx for a those reports, enjoy the game and stay cool. "
Well yeah sry… i don´t think i´m alone with that… I can live with every dumb soundbug, patrol pathing bug, whatever… but not that they “killed” the half core-game with a new patch.

Sure but you have free beta testers so why bother? Joke aside I don’t mind doing testing if it’s like a real beta or small patches.

If you bundle all fixes a separate beta makes a lot of sense if you actually go trough with it.
Releasing in smaller increments will make it far less likely to massively break things that worked before/can be fixed again faster.
