Server authoritative gameplay is terrible and needs to go

100%, in fact I think part of the warp unbound bug (you can still blow up if you use a peril-generating attack in the tick before the server registers the buff being granted) is entirely due to a slow, low-tickrate server.

However, server authoritative gameplay is a requirement for secure online gameplay, a core tenet of cybersecurity is never trust the client. If the game was client-authoritative cheaters could run rampant and ruin the game for everyone.

I thought so too, but turns it happens in solo games too

Security and cybersecurity is an entirely different matter though? And server authoritative isn’t necessarily required either for it.

Wower! That is some bull :poop:ery of the highest degree!

Your knife hit, then it gave it straight back too! I would be cursing! Your “what?” was very subdued compared to what mine would have been:

lol but it’s not my clip, it’s from an Australian player and they have to put up with this sort of thing constantly. Aussies out here are experiencing a strictly worse version of Darktide and it sucks.

It was an Aussie? And they didnt curse the house down? Im impressed.

haven’t tried solo mods, but to my knowledge, you’re still playing a game hosted by the server,
these mods only retain access to unselectable lobbies irrc

unless you have software to start a server and play on it, it wouldn’t work

Man I love playing with friends across continents and one of us gets to have an absolutely miserable time playing the game. It feels so awful and kills our desire to play the game

@Riku You’re thinking of ManyMoreTry which lets you play recently expired missions, the solo mod can be played offline.

I don’t know if it’s been fixed, but you can have multiple people control the same minigame if the timing is perfect.
