Scrier’s Gaze can be used to vent Peril even when the player has exceeded 100% and is about to explode, during the helpless animation. It can be now used in place of Venting Shriek as a panic button for saving yourself from Peril explosion.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Go into mission with Scrier’s Gaze as your ability
Exceed 100% Peril in order to enter the helpless animation
Activate Scrier’s Gaze
Your Peril will drop by 50%, saving you from the explosion just like Venting Shriek would
Oh god, you’re right… I didn’t even think to double-check the notes since it didn’t even cross my mind it could have been intended. Just kinda assumed they can’t be that detached.
I genuinely despise this new term “Havoc-viable” because that outlook on Balancing is blatantly antithetical to what Havoc is supposed to be. Havoc is supposed to be a Sweat Mode with crazy Modifiers where your successes actually mean something.
Balancing around Havoc is a disgustingly bad idea because it would turn Auric Damnation into what Malice is currently. Boring and trivial. Horrible, horrible powercreep. These people are trying to turn Havoc 40 into Regular Damnation and that is not okay.
I completed my first Havoc 25 with PUGs and a non-Meta Build to get my Moebian 53rd Cosmetics and I am suitably proud of that. To me, Regular Damnation is the best standard to where Balancing should be upheld because it is actually within the realm of STANDARD Difficulties wherein most Players should be enjoying Darktide.
I agree with you… especially because balancing around Havoc defeats the entire concept of Havoc.
It was created because several asked for something really difficult, a game mode where you have less chance to succeed…
If it is to return to something easy, what was the interest to create this horrible game mode?
personally, i like the change. i see it as a good alternative to the vent because it not only vents your peril but also lets you have your buff to gun accuracy as well, just like how the vent lets you knock back enemies and deal some damage to them. it’s like a ranged version of the vent, even if it isn’t as good in my eyes.
What’s also bad is that it’s not even like, an interesting form of powercreep. It’s just “Here, your skill and weapon is now OP”. It’s not like “here’s red weapons with new blessings, find a new interaction that might be a bit OP!” which would at least be a fun form of powercreep that’s interactive.
I still would prefer 0 power creep but come on, if it NEEDS to be done at least make it more interesting than random buffs to things that were already fine in patches
It doesn’t? Trauma and Purgatus certainly don’t have a lot of synergy with Scrier’s but Electrokinetic and Voidstrike have pretty significant synergy with Scrier’s.
Voidstrike can procc Precognition pretty easily by lining up headshots and cleaving through hordes of trash. Also Scrier’s boosts Surge proc rate because of the 20% extra Critical chance.
Electrokinetic already has good Crit chance, but with Nexus and Scrier’s active it’s pretty much every other charged shot that becomes a Critical hit. With that additional 10 seconds under protection from Perils by Unbound, Electrokinetic staff can easily clear out groups of Gunners/Ragers/Shotgunners and Specialists if Scrier’s is activated at the right moment.
Warp Unbound definitely changed the game for Scrier’s Gaze with staves. Before Unbound existed it just wasn’t worth the risk of Perils compared to Venting Shriek’s much safer synergy with staves.
