Scab Ragers still taking Flak modified DoT Damage, rather than their new Carapace

Issue Type (Required):

Enemy Mechanics

Issue Description (Required):

Scab Ragers are still taking Flak modified DoT Damage, rather than their new Carapace. To test I loaded into Psykanium, put 6 stacks of soulblaze on with shriek. I had a weapon with +25 flak dmg, and one without. When holding the one with +25% flak dmg the dot ticked for more damage than when holding the other weapon, and exactly matched the adjacent flak armored gunner with either weapon held. Also, the tick amount is not the same as the Crusher, which is the only other enemy with Carapace center mass.

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

noticed this almost immediately…bleed still seems to be hitting flak too. edit: I see you mentioned all DoT already lol. my frags were still eating packs of these dudes.

The base armor type, which is considered by DoTs, remains Flak. Only torso and center mass hit zones had Carapace armor overrides added.

This is not a bug, his center mass type is still flak armor, like the Reaper, which has a layer of flak armor on its body, but its center mass is still unyielding.

Then why does it report the armor type the DoT is doing damage to as Carapace? When the dot damages the Reaper it reports it as doing damage to unyielding.

Maybe the bug is reporting that it is damaging Carapace, or maybe the bug is that it isn’t receiving the coefficients for Carapace. Only the devs know what they intend and thus which is the bug.

That’s apparently a (new) visual bug of the Psykhanium.

In order to test apply the same amount of Soulblaze stacks to a Crusher and to a Scab Rager, then compare the tick damage. Soulblaze’s damage is correctly reduced considering the respective base armor types of either unit and the armor damage modifiers against Carapace (0.1) and Flak (1.5). The tick damage dealt to Scab Rager is also the same as the one dealt to other units with Flak base armor type (e.g. Mauler, Shotgunners).

Why are you so sure it is working as intended and that it is the display that is bugged? The patchnotes said:

Which suggests the dot should be getting the 0.1 modifier for the Carapace center mass. Every other unit has DoTs modified by the center mass armor type, so it seems presumptuous to say the Scab Rager change is currently working as intended.

It’s not once or twice that the FatShark has made the wrong use of words in the update text, and from a gameplay standpoint, there is no reason for the scab rager to get higher protection than a piece of chest armor, and its unit is flak in nature.

Because (1) the ingame testing supports this, as stated. Scab Ragers take the same amount of Soulblaze damage like other units with Flak base armor types.

And (2) Fatshark did exactly what the patch notes said: They changed the torso and center mass hit zones from Flak to Carapace by adding hitzone armor overrides – and nothing else. Every unit has a base armor type, in case of Scab Ragers, this is Flak. DoTs consider the base armor type of an enemy for damage calculation. The wrong armor type being displayed on DoT ticks in the Psykhanium is clearly a visual bug considering the observable damage results.

Fair enough, I’m convinced you’re probably right. Still, only the devs know what they intended, maybe it was an oversight to not also change the base armor type? Personally I don’t think it would be a bad thing for the op flamer & inferno to have another enemy in the mix that they don’t just delete.
