as i predicted expeditions is a huge failure, almost everyone who has played it says its boring to run around a big open map and collect things from the floor. most likely this mode will die faster than mortis trials, so imo the mode should be scrapped and the assets from the maps used to create maps for the actual mode, since we havent got any for over a year now
Yea, it feels grindish and looterish (for the lack of better word) - but humorously you don’t get anything of real value for your grind after you extract, except from some abstract points needed to only access more of that experience and trash resources nobody with 200+ hrs ingame needs anymore. FS seem to badly understand the concepts of player retention, incentive and rewards, right, and it shows in the new mode’s design too.
And then all those funny people starting to defend them when you speak about those issues aka “yoU dOnT nEeD rEwArd GaMePlay Is RewArd” - I would really like to know how many of those will still be playing it a month or two from now lol.
Welp, I guess. Unless they have some extra economic layer for whole that thing in works that will make sense of you going grinding on those missions, that mode won’t be able to keep players’ attention. I even understand Havoc’s allure better, like you go there for even more challenge. And you go to Expeditions for.. what exactly? It’s like the Mission Terminal, but instead of hoard shooter you play some kind of looter shooter / extraction shooter, but without the usual joy of gathering shiny things and turning them into more shiny things at your base. That’s like half the fun of the genre eh?
Well, I have 3000 hours in the game, and moment to moment gameplay / combat is the reason why I still play Tide games. However based on the little time I spent in Expeditions, not that much is happening on those maps. I heard some passing comments, that it can have Havoc level intensity, but I don’t see that in those 3 games I played, maybe on those other maps you are supposed to unlock.
There were few difficulty spikes it just felt more relaxed and chill than Auric
Maybe we didn’t reach enough of those POIs. It’s good to see new environments, the new boss is cool enough, and the whole game mode gives you something new to do for few hours. Said that, I can definitely see why people used to high intensity game modes, whatever Aurics and defo Havoc would get quickly bored of Expeditions based on my limited experiences so far. I’m more than happy to be proven wrong by Fatshark.
It might just be broken spawns like when people split up, when I played on damnation and auric, we stayed together and the spawns got really silly, really quickly. Gate holdouts involved entire clown cars of ogryns just like the previous event.
This mode is oh so far from perfect, but I’m really not sure how people keep saying it’s boring/not much is happening.
I’ve only played 3 so far and the combat is balls to the wall nearly the whole time.
Are people actually sneaking around stuff? Are people running steath knife builds?
Some people are so inured to stimulation they need extremes to feel anything. Re: Slaanesh cultist progression.
We got a new map in December, no-mans land. Why are you lying ?
That aside - how many of the nodes have you unlocked ? Playing on Auric there’s very little downtime and every run is a mad dash to grab tech remnants while holding out against huge hoards and often double or triple boss spawns. The map modifiers like the tornadoes are also pretty crazy. I feel that anyone that says the mode is boring probably did section 1/3 of the map and extracted instead of heading deeper into the zones where it gets harder.
Idc about no man’s land it isn’t playable in havoc
Not relevant when we are discussing content releases now is it ?
No, I played with randoms, and I intentionally shot at enemy roamers at distance. We completed quite a few POIs, we had few difficulty spikes, when few enemy groups merged on us, but based on that experience and scoreboard showing 200-300 enemy killed per person in match it wasn’t anything crazy. No idea, maybe it gets more intense on further maps. I can see attrition being a “silent” killer on some maps, and actually hidden chasms, map boundaries, as in those 3 games we had to pull up like 3 people who fell off the play area.
Dude, like
Those hilarious takes like “if you are happy and excited for getting new shiny stuff from a chest in some RPG game you are literally gambling addict” aside - they are just stupid, and everyone repeating them makes Internet a bit more stupid, just stop - just think for a second.
This mode emulates a game loop of extraction shooters obviously. In an extraction shooter THE WHOLE POINT of you getting into a mission, exploring, finding some resources and extracting with them - so, basically, grinding for resources, what isn’t really fun by its nature - is that you get with all the loot back to the base and get new shining toys and upgrades that make you stronger and cooler. If you gut the second part, the other part just immediately loses all reason to exist, it’s just extra boredom for no reason - and that’s what FS did in this mode. It’s grind for nothing in return, while you still have an option to just queue into the base game and play the hoard shooter you came for in the first place.
You just can’t answer the question of “why do I need to go to Expeditions where instead of bashing heretics non-stop I now need to deal with all those not-so-fun things of carrying barrels around, vacuum clearing the level of some resources, running from point to point while dealing with my brainless teammates who roam around and create obstacles for the run - when I can run to Mission Terminal and press Quickplay button there”. There is no reason at all, the hype and novetly will be gone in a month and the mode will be empty unless FS does something to add sense of you going there. What means a whole new economy full of incentive, it won’t work the other way.
they don’t understand that the reward IS part of the gameplay for extraction shooters
decision to extract early or late is only a meaningful one if people can find good loot, which doesn’t exist in this game. those rewards also determine if people are stronger in the next run, which unsurprisingly is also not a thing in this game(unless you actually upgrade weapons with those common resources from that mode)
Collecting useless stuff on the ground and jumping puzzle.
2026 game design.
This pretty much has been FS since the launch of the game. There is someone(s) high up with a lot of influence that insists on ridiculous grind for little rewards. They seem to think giving players dedicated-mmo-player level grind but without similar rewards will keep players around. Even the game testers thought there would be something to do with the new currency other than to unlock maps.
Those people are off playing Havoc most likely.
