Requires Privilege to access multiplayer

Issue Description:

Dear Support,

I’m having issue while logging into Vermintide 2 on Xbox series X. It’s saying “ Privilege to access multiplayer sessions” require and telling to buy Xbox ultimate / Gold which I already have and I can play other multiplayer games just fine.

I have attached screenshot of the error.

FYI - I already did try restarting my console multiple times and it’s not working.

Also, does the issue persist after restarting both your Xbox and your router?

I did restarted the router and console at least 3 times the issue still persist

Thanks @chester.hahn313, everything appears to be fine from a backend perspective.

Can you please try the following:

  1. In Xbox Settings, go to ‘Privacy and Online Safety’
  2. Go to ‘Xbox Privacy’
  3. Go to ‘View details and customize’ (if Adult defaults is selected, it should be fine but please also go to View details and customize)
  4. Under ‘Communication & Multiplayer’ make sure ‘Allow’ is selected for ‘You can join multiplayer games’

Please let me know how this goes.

I have changed the settings as they were different before and restarted my console to be refresh it. But it still saying the same and now it’s saying I need to buy Xbox Game pass or Gold to get this privilege access ?

I can play other multiplayer games having know issues. Also, I bought this game and been playin for over 3 years now.

Hmm okay, this is admittedly quite baffling!

I’ve contacted one of our Console Developers and asked if they can take a look at this for you, and if they have any further suggestions. Due to the bank holiday weekend, I may not receive a reply immediately - but I’ll let you know as soon as I have any response.

It may also be worth contacting Microsoft Support and querying this with them, in case there is any issue with your online subscription. Though I do appreciate that you’ve mentioned you can play other games fine, they still might be better suited to assist.

The Console Developer replied, but they have suggested very similar. They asked if you can run through the steps similar to before but select “Adult Defaults” and confirm the switch.

Let me know if you have any luck with this. Otherwise, I hope that Microsoft Support is able to be of more help.

I’ve checked with Microsoft, there were changes to my Xbox Gold which ran out quicker than few months, I have renewed Xbox game pass and now I can login and play.

So some games which are free to play like Apex legends, Destiny and Forza doesn’t require Gold/ Gamepass, but for other non free to play games with multiplayer requires Gold / Gamepass.
