Relic Blade has 2 empty Blessing Spots.... which should be added?

Didn’t FS undo the Scourge change so that you can still maintain stacks even if you one-shot?

That they did, but it turns into a game of low chance to maintain the the crit rate going. I would imagine bleeding enemies getting obliterated, won’t work well with a slow weapon in a 3 second buff uptime window. I suppose this is a great case for some test runs with scoreboard and uptime mods.

It has abysmal uptime that can be circumvented somewhat on bosses with a puncture bistol / bolter, kickstarting the process with, or by enlisting the help of a batter ogryn spreading bleed across the field, but even than, relic hits too hard to be reliably sustainable.

Bottom line, you’ll get more value out of the point elsewhere.

This is what I do when using RB with Martyrdom (and associating it with scourge and enduring faith)
But must say that I prefer to use Blazing piety with a RB. Because the weapon needs to land critical constantly (due to blessings I use).

Neither is it suited, nor has finesse modifiers good enough for trying to shoehorn crit onto. 25% crit at +60% crit dmg is 15% dmg, for a keystone. If you dislike martyr, even IJ is better than piety with.

Sure, you can make it work, but at what (opportunity) cost.

I love martyr… but I feel that the weapon works better with Blazing piety.
But, tbh, I feel that the weapon is so strong, that I use it rarely.

The weapon makes anything work indeed.

Darktide is rarely a question of whether you can, rather whether you should to begin with.

Tbh, I have seen that the crits rate with Martyrdom is not enough with the blessings I use (the one that reduces the heat when you land critical)
Most of the time, I prefer Martyrdom for weapons with high critical rate. You will land enough crits.

But RB, I want the energized state to last the most I can push. That’s why I use blazing fury.

IJ, I will retry it… but, I really don’t see a reason to go for this keystone.

I am simply using it because i don’t like Martyrdom and Blazing Piety is so common. I feel that IJ is the “weakest option” which is rarely chosen by players and i like underdogs. Maybe i’m wrong because i’m not following newest “meta-trends” ;]

No you’re not wrong

If there is a keystone that I feel weak this is this one. However, it is not totally bad as you have a dodge bonus, a toughness bonus, attack speed for ranged and melee weapons.

But I feel that if there is one keystone to boost, it could be this one. But if they buff it, it should be slightly (to avoid to make it OP).

Suppose you want to play a melee psyker, and you pick the deimos force sword and try to play as a damage class without soulblaze. It’s all about the sword play, perhaps with an occasional ranged weapon shot to take down a distant gunner or incoming specialist.

Now my question is, supposing you massively nerf the FGS to bring it in line with the other force swords, what do you bring to the team? What is the psyker doing there, what role on the team does it fill literally any other class doesn’t do better? Playing melee psyker with the deimos or obscurus sword, say, what is the class good at another can’t do better?

You don’t need to do better - just do your part. Sometimes for fun i take for swing and i dont complain illisi

If you’re more squishy you certainly do. This idea that this game is just about participating and having fun with no regard to performance or filling roles sounds nice and cozy but it doesn’t work like that in actual practice. First of all, people constantly measure themselves against each other and want to compete even when they work together. It’s just human nature. Even if you don’t like showing off, you probably still want to know that you did well.

Since the game naturally has classes, the people who play those classes want to do it well. That means a player playing a tank class naturally shouldn’t gauge their performance on damage done, but by their ability to keep the team alive and controlling dangerous enemies. That might not show up in some obvious way on a scoreboard, but to people who play tank classes you definitely know when you do it well.

If a class is objectively worse than others even at their designed and intended role, the vast majority of people will stop playing it. Just like the vast majority stay away from the worst weapons.

Psyker has a melee spec, and it isn’t anything but the force greatsword.

None of the other melee weapons can turn the psyker into an effective melee damage dealer without dipping into talents and abilities everyone also wants to nerf, such as scriers gaze, perilous combustion, and venting shriek.

Assuming you went through the list and nerfed it all to “balance psyker”, what is the class then? Why are you there? You’re a psyker in name only. Psyker through voicelines and having weapons with “force” in the name, which don’t live up to the name. Psyker through having a peril mechanic that doesn’t promise damage at the risk of blowing yourself up (putting aside how well that is currently implemented). If you don’t bring the reward, why even play the risk?

That is certainly one way of thinking. I’m not saying a balanced team composition doesn’t make things easier, but not everyone is going to optimise that much. Some just want to try something new, put some challenge into the game. FGS is a bit busted, especially when combined with buffs from the tree. I mainly take an issue with FGS special attack. It should have never been designed to be a mini-screen clear ability. It would be fine if it was a single target force lance attack, able to pierce 2-3 enemies max, but the current state is absurd.

I don’t play psy often, but I found a H40 game with Obscurus. I cannot remember the last time I played with anything else, probably last year, so that part was easy. You can hold your own decently, go after elites, shooters, gunners and especially dps and disabler specials around an Ogryn, and everyone is happy. Range weapon is a bolt pistol, looking at few random bleed kills.

Hitting 1.0-1.2k kills mark is fairly average for me if I’m frontlining and I’m allowed to breath (read: no ranged, often AoE spam), so yeah, this feels fairly “balanced” to me.

As you can see no Soulblaze, no Warp Slash from FGS, no excessive cleave, decent one shot ratio, but that’s mainly on trash mobs. No Assail. I bet I’m running Smite, for its 2 upgrades and memes, here. No staff, and defo not avoiding the frontline. Very limited SG talents, as most of the time I cannot afford it, DD is likely set only to 15 stacks talent.

It’s hard to draw much from a single game of course, but you did worse than both the zealot and the veteran, which are both significantly more survivable than you. That doesn’t seem balanced to me. You’re not uselessly far behind, but it’s definitely not balanced.

You are comparing this to vet with krak 3d printer, and zealot who was likely running a relic blade, sure, but this isn’t a race. It was something I did, because I enjoy the weapon, which is far from the popular “meta” bucket.

That is a myth nowadays - psykers are not squishy - you have plenty of nodes restoring toughness…

Only vain ppl look at it this way. Besides you can still do well, maybe not OP-META well but still.

Ppl that play DT will eat you alive if you will say this to them - this isn’t WoW. Here ppl claim that there are no roles for the classes. It may not be entirely true but this is what i keep hearing for many years.

Slaughterer, Decapitator

o.O

What for? Relic blade is OP as it is. It already has extremely high one hit kill ratio. Even without Marydom, you are pushing 1/3 one hit kills on average.

It’s VERY strong and NOT OP. You can say Purgatus is OP or DS4 or even CB. RB is strong, close to it, but it is slow 2H. All weapons should be at this lvl - not weaker or stronger - because it’s fun.

Maybe if sb uses some “meta-sreta” build abusing combat mechanics it may look this way - but it’s the builds issue (for example crapmangus).
