RedShell! Spyware?!

The game needs some kind of anti-cheat and there is nothing wrong with EAC itself - even Fortnite uses it. They just need to work on integration or switch to something else if EAC doesn’t fit.

Though considering the size of playerbase they could have just implemented a report system a hired a man or two to respond to reports.

I don’t believe a non competitive, non PvP CO OP game, with now only 7000 active players at a time, requires anti cheat. It serves just to ruin the experience and game performance for the majority and only to protect fragile minds, who could simply use the kick function, who instead get offended when they see someone cheating or feel that someone hasn’t “earned” their gear the “proper” way.

A report player function would have been much better.

Played tons of online (+competitive) games in the 90’s without E.A.C. and we survived that decade just fine.

The secret was letting hosts handle their own servers.

Those people could instantly do all unlocks and ruin the sense of pride and accomplishment for all the others.

in 90s games didn’t have progression systems and also cheating industry didn’t exist.

personally i see people with red weapons and cosmetics i dont think they earened them , i think they got lucky.

That’s why I said unlocks, meaning challenge hats and clothes reskins.

As for reds and comm hats - I have the same feeling as you.

Exactly my point. People getting offended that other people have done things that dont match up to their perception of pride and accomplishment. It’s pathetic.

Pride over jumping through a set of grindy hoops created by game developers designing skinnerbox mechanics to deliberately waste player time.

How other people play or choose to ruin the game for themselves, if that’s my perception, is not something that affects my accomplishments.

For you yes. But 90% of people only have the drive to achieve anything in order to get more than others. Thats the sole purpose of “earning” something actually.
Especially in this community. “Gamers” are used to play competitive games and tend to turn anything into such.

Imagine that in LoL, DotA, WoW, Fortnite, Overwatch or any other game all progression and all cosmetics suddenly become available for any player. Yes, they would need to cheat to get them, but it is known that there is going to be no consequences for inventory cheating. How do you think, would moral principles refrain players from participating in the cheating fiesta as more and more people around them join in? And what do you think would happen to those games?

What would I think would happen? The people that only play to grind would leave, the people who enjoy the game and would just like the best tools/items/inventory for the job would stay and enjoy the time more due to no more mindless grind.

Why do all games have to have a front loaded grinding treadmill before being able to experience the real game.

And I think those games would be dead in a couple of months with the majority of playerbase moving to games that have progression and exclusive items for achievements/grinding/donations.

Pretty off-topic but since this topic keeps bouncing up to the top of the forum…

Mod support (which is a very good thing) would be a nightmare without cheat protection. It has nothing to do with worrying about your “pride and accomplishment” being undermined by people who haxx themselves some cosmetics. It’s about not having to worry about the next mission you join having a person who can teleport around the map, spawn a million mobs, or crash your game at will.

Mods/Modders have an incredible amount of power to ruin the game for unsuspecting casuals. Thus, the split between the modded and official realms. Without cheat protection, there could be no official realm, no safe/vanilla experience.

If you don’t like EAC, play on the modded realm (where it’s not even loaded) and make (or commission) a mod that gives you all items in the game. Ere’buddy happy.
