To the point that I installed the Zip It mod to mute them. I’ve played the game enough that my initial immersion into the 40k universe has mostly worn off and now I’m more focused on the mechanics than the setting, and having to listen to the same briefing that I’ve heard dozens of times over and over just to load into a mission, especially one that I might be latejoining and that desperately needs a new team member, feels like it’s wasting my time.
Loading times are unavoidable, but I would prefer for them to be as short as possible, so here’s what I want:
When starting a mission, players can press a button to vote to skip the briefing. If all players vote yes, then as soon as everyone finishes loading, the rest of the mission briefing will be skipped.
Have a setting toggleable in the game to automatically vote to skip mission briefing.
If latejoining a game, or rejoining after a disconnect, only you have to vote to skip your own mission briefing.
This is just my anecdotal feeling; but don’t you skip the briefing once all players are ready to go? I know if it’s just me & a mate loading in, both on high speed broadband, then we’re in the game within 10 seconds.
Must admit… that’s just a feeling. I haven’t actually checked that. *makes note to go check!
also the initial animation of the valkyrie, is also technically skippable coding wise, with mods we have seen it, but also in every tide game.
so it could be implemented something officially to skip the initial animation cutscene, because probably we wasted lot of time just by seeing always the cutscene
yeah this is something I’ve thought about too. In certain situations I’ve had to watch the same cutscene several times, either due to a disconnect or whatever. Very frustrating, even more so for the team mates waiting for you to load back in.
Safe to say, those of us trying to join an in-progress mission, aren’t too fussy about the details and just need to get their boots on the ground ASAP. A simple skip button would solve this.
It is, but the briefing must complete before you load into the game, no matter if you finished ten seconds ago. That’s my problem - I want to load into the game and play, but I have to listen to mission control yap.
Use Zip it and then Quickplay into ongoing missions - skips the briefing screens pretty reliably - sometimes you will sit there for a bit but you will usually load in right at the beginning with the others or directly to the loss screen when that happens.
