Why are we collecting Scripts and Grims?
And do none Event Missions Scripts and Grims count?

Cause they made models of them so they gotta be used

Afaik not (if it’s like last time)

Because his holy majesty needs them for his library! How dare you question the Emperor heretic!

Oh it’s collect scripts and grims

I thought it would just be do missions with the modifier. Yeah I’m not coming back for this.

Why? Cuz they wanna see how fun the book runs are.
And non book missions probably dont count on account of them being non book missions. Would be smarter to do real book missions with special event anyway 2 birds and all.

I still have the illusion that they are working on something really amazing that expands the game and its progression, and the ways we engage with it are expanded significantly. Like a new tier of items, unique items that provide uncraftable blessings and enable builds around them, new mission types, new character progression, and so on. But as there is no roadmap, no dev diaries beyond retrospectives, and less than nothing in communication from Fatshark, I curb my expectations.

The recent community video I saw, which was a comment on Havok, really shined a light on the mode and its shortcomings while also not providing anything significant besides shutting up the people who already solved the game—to solve it again—and they already did.

I don’t think more difficulty is the way forward. I would like to see more engagement in the ways we do things, with more specific rewards besides resources and cosmetics or straight-up real storylines to progress through, like Warframe has them.

In hindsight, I really don’t want to be in FS’s shoes right now, as it’s hard to pinpoint the exact features or content to develop to somewhat satisfy the players.

Eh I just ignore these events. Same as the one a while back that was only available on non-aurics. Or the black cosmetics for havoc now that I think about it.

I guess it’s all just a question of fun vs. the price you get from it. Books are something I routinely ignore and reroll every weekly. It takes 20x longer to do them than anything else and means you can’t rely on quickplay either, plus grims as a psyker is a bother unless you spec for it (I don’t mind if the puggers do it, but I’m definitely not aimint to myself).

tldr; Not worth it for me.

Same, i never play these “events.”

I still haven’t finished my grims penances, so that’s something I guess. :man_shrugging:

As soon as i saw it, i was so turned off to the event -.- please don’t add this one to be re-used just the Ogryn one and probably some others i missed.

Honestly if you are doing the event for the rewards then… I’m not sure honestly. I can get a good “line goes up” motivation but the rewards are meaningless, so it doesn’t really matter how fast said line goes up.

I just play the event because it’s a kinda fun mix up in auric. Though I do think this event is way too easy, I think hoard spawns are cut in half if not more, so you have enemies with twice the health but half the amount… Would be impactful if voidblast didn’t still one shot them.

I agree with everything said here, but why I found it extra weird is storywise:

“Yeah, new “dangerous” threat! Now go there and collect books!”

The four varlets be like:

Veteran:

Zealot: :rage:

Psyker: :unamused:

Ogryn: :innocent:

EDIT:
Also funny:

*The fan-favorite Unrelenting Hordes Special event returns to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide! *
A platoon of Moebian 21st soldiers has been infected by the Blight. Their armour will make them harder to deal with than the usual hordes you encounter.
(…)

A platoon? ONE platoon?

That’s like 50 guys, max.

I think someone at FS doesn’t know a lot about Military formations.

Should atleast have been a company (250), battalion (1000)
even the whole 21th regiment (3000 - 5000 dudes)
to make any sense as a horde unit.

Even if you say: “Oh WH40K adds a zero to every number!”
That’s pretty low numbers for the amount of dudes we encounter and kill.

I was just finishing them two weeks ago. Wish I had known.

Because they had to put something they can count. It would have been so much more relevant to count Moebian Horde kills, but someone at Fatshark chose Grimoires and Scriptures instead.

Yeah I noticed this as well but TO BE FAIR. Its a little complicated in 40k.

We have official number for a cadian shock tropp battalion and that seems to be 35 men. However cadian shock troops are supposed to be elite something people tend to forget. Cadian shock troops are like modern US rangers, they aren’t standard infantry. Its likely the black armored 53rd mobians we see evidently doing “havoc tier missions” are more elite like this as well

So if we look at standard infantry for a PDF/less elite imperial guard regiment. Such as say the basic mobians 21st. Well we don’t have any specific lore numbers and the ones we do seem a little inconsistent. So we can just assume their numbers will be higher and use some tabletop rules to get a rough idea. A imperial guard squad is up to 20 people and you can bring around 10 for about half a list, plus some heavy supports and transports and that’s basically what I would consider a normal 40k platoon for a PDF, since in that list your likely to bring one or two command squads, we can just explain two lieutenant in a platoon as basically a lieutenant and a assistant lieutenant that just helps spread the orders out over a larger group.

So if we assume a 40k PDF platoon is 200 people, and we take into account that the event reduces hoard spawns, and we assume the event only canonically happens for a single mission, and we assume you do the mission reasonably fast… Well you still kill like two platoons worth but it’s not that bad.

You can hand wave that, there are much more weird lore inaccuracies in darktide that can’t exactly just be hand waved. Such as the Valkyrie traveling in space (it can’t), and plasteel being shown to rust (it can’t).
