Psyker : can't jump back when blocking multiple enemies in front of me

I’ve been playing this game for a while now and normally im able to jump back and get some distance from enemies in front of me… ragers, mobs , crushers and maulers…for some strange reason now when im blocking and i have deflector on my lllisi mk v force sword… i cant jump back !! its like im immobilized… like my legs are in tar … keep in mind my stam bars are full …could swore that wasn’t a problem before…

this happened in 2 different maps…im sorry as long as i played this game idk the title of the maps…i just know its the one where have to load up some power reactors or something and we have to climb to the top to reach them and then restart the machine when we finished loading the reactors… anyways i just want to know am i the only one this is happening to? i

This sounds like when you run out of “dodges” to me. Happens to me a lot when I’m on my zealot evis build. It feels like you are walking in quicksand and you can’t dodge?

There is a mod to track your dodge count, but the devs really need to add it to the game for this very reason

Wait jump back? Why? I haven’t had any consistent issues like this though but I barely ever jump back, just dodge & dodge+slide. As the person above said though, this does sound like running out of dodges. But it sounds like you know how the game works so that’s probably not the case.

But in general Darktide has a massive issue with literally any elevation changes at all. I’ve literally quit matches over failing to dodge or slide on account of some random pebble, staircase or slightly off corner of a floor tile too many times in a row. It’s extremely annoying. Especially when some maps have stuff like the railroad section where dodging barely works at all half the time.

Doesn’t help when you add cheating enemies to the bunch either. I can’t even begin to count how many times enemies have done that whole “phase shift & run right through you”, then start hitting me from behind so I’m stuck in the middle spamming a dodge that can’t work.

You have a limited amount of dodges. Check the detailed stats on your weapon. After your dodges run out you go into “negative” dodges, which get both slower and have less and less distance the more you chain them, making it seem like you “can’t dodge backwards”

If you use the numericUI mod you can have your dodges show under your crosshair like 4/5. You can use that to learn your weapons dodge timing.

There is a basic game mechanic which isn’t communicated to new players very well. Every weapon has a maximum dodge count, which means you can dodge enemies x number of times before your dodges become less effective, meaning shorter and you are more likely to get hit.

Historically force swords were the only weapon class in the game which had INFINITE max dodges, this has been changed in Patch 13 last year (I think?).

Now assuming your force sword has at least 51% of the mobility stat you can dodge 4 times before your dodges start getting shorter. Not dodging for a short time window (1 sec or so) will reset your dodge counter back to its maximum value. So if you feel you lost mobility push enemies around you without dodging / block/attack without dodging if you can and wait that time period for reset.

The mobility weapon stat also dictates how long your dodges are in general. Illisi and Obscurus dodge length is far worse than Deimos force sword. You can view these stats when you inspect the weapon detailed information about its stats.

A helpful mod to check your current dodge count and more:

This mod should be part of the game’s official UI, but Fatshark never improved that aspect of the user experience.

Example video on how to install mods on PC version of Darktide:

Force weapons provide infinite dodges apparently.

This was nerfed a while ago if I’m not mistaken. It’s no longer infinite.

Why am I not surprised.

It was the correct choice. Infinite dodges made illisi/deimos force swords too strong tbh.

You are correct
