screen freeze then crash to desktop a few seconds later

i have not managed to reproduce this crash
this is what i was doing before the crash:
- Psykanium (D5 damnation)
- swap to accatran Mk VIIa
- hipfire into crusher face
- game freeze on a crit/orange hitmarker (sound of firing still playing/repeating)
- CTD a few seconds later
