Since Fatshark is in the works for its 2nd new mode patch why not line up the 3rd for an easy slam dunk, the one people have been asking, solo mode + true solo mode? Should be relatively simple right? Here’s my pitch to add a little flavor to it.
Solo Mode with optional NPCs that can be activated at start called… Servitors
Begin weapon balancing and cross class balancing / normalizing ie CDR nerfing
Servitor Class: (Bot Only, Solo Only)
Improved combat AI - can be modified from lobotomized to varlet
Enhanced stats / Damage
Random Aura not already deployed
Veteran Shout rescue / golden toughness ability.
Improved Rescue mechanics - auto-pick up on proximity at longer time improved by number of servitors nearby.
Efficient emotionless vocal communications (New voice lines)
Downed servitors cannot be picked up but continue fighting until death will respawn at next player rez point.
Always appreciate more discourse on a potential solo mode. Servitors sound interesting, but less interesting to me than using my other characters + more work for Fatshark = less likely for them to implement it.
Bots should be the lesser to players, also wouldn’t want bots spamming CDs constantly. Besides getting annoying to overpowered.
I’d kind of like to preset my bots to be current characters like in VT2 but the character system and complexity right now is very different. Maybe a simplified class with better iconic skins, able to choose their aura / ability, with no repeats to prevent 3 vet shouting bots.
Yeah, it would be great to have fully customizable bots with presets that can be saved, using the same items the player has in their inventory account-wide.
So if a player wanted to set up a Vet-bot as a Psyker, he/she would have access from the Psyker to his/her Vet weapons for the Vet-bot.
Those presets would automatically be applied to the bots that spawn in missions if the player was hosting a private game or had no other players with them during a public game.
I mean, the UI already exists for player customization, it’s just a matter of applying the various skill tree, weapon, and curio modifiers to the bots.
I don’t know how complicated or not doing that actually is because I’m not a developer, but as a player it would be a dream come true.
They did do in VT2 so maybe not so hard as I think… could also incentivize players to level up alts for bots… even skin sales FS… then otherwise could use servitors? or be stuck with baseline characters.
…These seem to be level 1 and have high health/toughness not sure about their DR or damage they seem sturdy but very stupid in rescuing players or killing specials.
I liked the lore touch of having the synths as bots in Aliens Fire Team Elite and I would have been equally tickled if they had done the same thing for DT.
BUUUT . . . they didn’t and, unless there’s some dudes chilling around the office that need some busy work, I’d prefer they not bother with it.
As far as playing as a servitor, no, they are lobotimized and devoid of free will. They can be NPCs all day long but not PCs. Many people have suggested a tech-priest summoning a gaggle of servitors (a la VT2’s Necromancer) and that’d be just fine, I guess. Except that we spend a lot of time running and I’m not sure how they’d keep up or if that’d just have to be a sacrifice in favor of gameplay to make them go faster than Slow and Steady would imply.
Here a video of a solo game in damnation with using my chars as bots (as you will see EASYYYY)
Here a solo damnation game with bots (not easy and lost…)
I say it… using our own chars as bots ,something that exists in VT2, is sufficient to make solo totally viable.
A true solo would mean eventually to change a little how disablers works and how toughness works (and maybe how demon objective works in mission… or the timer before the bulbs reappear). At least, if they go for such game mode, this is really something I want.
But as a band aid, they can allow NOW to start private games alone.
(Videos were done last week… so the quality is not the best… it was with my old 3080)
100% just want solo. it was a promised mode pre release, the SOLE reason i preordered and wasted money on this crap and more importantly A STAPLE OF THE FREAKING GENRE!!!
this game has been 1 big eff you to gamers from the start and a tech step backwards. fatshark need to do good by community and add baseline features already or fall on their swords.
