Yes 100% serious. I can’t find a recording of it or something but upon googling it I’m certain I didn’t hallucinate it, other people also came across this line. This is all I could find and I’m not sure it plays in the new hab dreyko still
Uh, well, black people in medieval Europe or some such is one thing, but there’s really no issue with black people in 40k. Especially in an Inquisitorial Warband that has been assembled piecemeal from all across a sector.
As far as her attitude being out of place, her pluck, her levity in the face of adversity and her “sucks to be you grunts” attitude is all spot on for hot-shot fixed-wing pilots. Even some that I’ve worked with personally. Plenty of those sshles make her seem positively tame by comparison. Hell, even Morrow is a mellowed-out, watered-down version of what a real bastard senior enlisted can be.
I’m one of the first to call it out when it is but, I’m sorry, this character is really not in any way forced. If anything having her be a pilot is far more realistic than having her be an infantry officer (as it has been hinted Zola may have been). IRL, women tend to perform pretty horribly in such physically demanding roles and men on their side tend to lose mission focus when they are in harm’s way but that’s a whole 'nother can’o’worms.
I haven’t heard the VO line and can’t judge but it sounds like the “knocking out in one punch” is a bit of hyperbole either on the part of RL people relaying it or the in-game PCs.
And even if it isn’t, she (allegedly) cheats at cards with the vets, why wouldn’t she cheat in a fist fight? Especially when it’s against an ogryn?
As much as I enjoy Darktide, there are no named characters that I particularly like. They are all insufferable, there is no point in them being there, and hearing their yapping gets tiresome quickly.
The only exceptions are Brahms and KX-8, who are the only compelling characters in the cast.
I just want to be able to turn off the yapping of mission npcs. Hallowette, Masozi and Zola in particular. Getting them to shut up would be a blessing.
I guess i dont notice it as much as others do. I enjoy them. Every time they get tiring to ke i think to myself “well do you want Kerillian back” and j imediately feel better about the exsistin voices
Personally I don’t like it when Sefoni threatens to kill me. (in general I do like her more than most of the other cast still)
Krall is much nicer, and additionally fulfills the “scummy black market dealer” much better than Hallowette does. Although the accent on the eccentric doctor might be a bit done to death at this point.
Is she? I wasn’t aware. Also it’s more than possible that different sectors of the same Hive City, especially if they’re from the outskirts.
Personally I got this same feeling from you. I’m sure part of it was how, passionate? You are about your arguments.
Personally I don’t have a lot of the hate other people have for her. She fits the archetype of cocksure aviator pretty much to a T. I never felt like she was “masculinated” in really any way. I never heard the dialogue about her knocking out an Ogryn but that would be really stupid.
Overall the general “story” and characters in Darktide are so inconsequential I don’t really see the need to argue about them like this.
She is drugged to the gills, by her own admission. she does not fly sober and is violating a bunch of rules maintaining her own craft.
because she’s not connected to the warband, she’s part of the ship’s crew and effectively brahm’s eyes on a potentially violent rouge force on her ship.
whole thing was set up last minute from what i understand. grendyl may have been planning on handling this BEFORE the 6th reached the hive and the current spot work is because he’s overworking his staff trying to compensate. plus grendyl’s main force seems to be involved elsewhere. stress is making them take things out on the temps. we’re the temps.
the ship’s crew and the inquitor’s warband are having trouble sharing the limited space aboardship for their projects.
they have limited ways for you to hear about those two interacting, and they want you to know their relationship.
she’s friggin’ pissed about having a penal legion aboard her ship, she’s friggin’ pissed the penal legion keeps getting into parts of the ship they aren’t meant to, and she’s presumably super pissed that there’s apparently still traitors aboard her ship somewhere.
grendyl placating brahms is likely going to be the next major plot point, or at least in the next three.
They all fall into this general category of “Interesting tidbits in their backstories, but we’re given no reason to get attached to any of them.”. So who cares? They could all be replaced entirely and nothing of major value would be lost.
Even when we hit 30 and become part of the warband, the interactions we have with them gives the ‘disposable resource’ vibe, so there’s nothing to attach to. All of them feel like an IRL boss who doesn’t know what you do and doesn’t care.
Not really sure why the thread about muting ALL dialogue has turned into an argument over race and identity politics but whatever.
But when it comes to what OP brings up
I agree, it is kind of tiring to hear the same voice lines from the same characters with the same holier than thou attitude after completing your 100th mission, so having an optional way to turn off dialogue would be welcome
And definitely agree with muting them specifically so you can still hear other voice lines like Specials (and perhaps the occasional inter squad banter as those lines are not as common and you can still hear new stuff even with countless hours)
Pretty mindblowing that after all this time you’re still doing the exact same argmentative approach to discussing things.
Rather than coherently making your argument, and addressing peoples raised points, in classic Badwin style, you ignore everything except the lowest hanging fruit.
I’ve repeatedly made my case for why I think Masozi has been poorly written, and instead of actually making the discussion be something constructive you toss my statements aside as if they’re nonsense:
and then pounce on the easiest thing to argue about like a hyena. Your style of discussion really is pitiable.
Yet another thread devolved into hopeless ad hominem, strawman, and tinfoil hattery.
Meanwhile I’m just enjoying all the interesting accents from characters in game. I couldn’t care less what a Cadian actually sounds like. One could be scottish-sounding and another nepalese-sounding for all I care – it’s eargasmic and I AM HERE FOR IT!
I’m also here for the drama, so by all means carry on making a mockery of yourselves
To address the actual topic, all we really need is a dialogue sound slider (separate for player VO/flavour VO pls). Bam, solved.
Just to let you know if some one has not already bought it up.
Get the mod to turn all the audio voice lines off.
Can select anything you want so all you hear is enemy sounds and players calling out enemies.
