Please fix plasma gunners, they're undercooked

Making this thread because while I love the idea of an enemy that counters gold toughness and the insane toughness regen some classes have, this enemy feels like a cut enemy and weird things that break the rules the game set up with it’s enemy design.

  • For an enemy that is able to apply a debuff, instantly break toughness and do a lot of health damage they have basically no sound queues.
No sound for being aimed at (like with snipers who have a radio crackling sound)
No voice lines like gunners or shotgunners.
    No distinct sound for footsteps
No sound for spawning (ik they’re an elite but still) and even the sound for their guns charging is barely audible and sometimes delayed.
9/10 the way I find out there’s a plasma gunner is because my toughness is gone not because of their audio queues.
  • They are really hard to spot in hordes, them having a red glow when charging their guns is barely visible and their firing effect is also really hard to spot, snipers have 3 things that give them away, the glint of their scope, a really loud noise and their laser. Plasma gunners have none of those.
  • Their fire rate is inconsistent, I don’t mind them shooting fast if that’s how you want to make them dangerous but why do they sometimes just decide to delay their shots?
No other enemy does this, also when in groups their shots overlap making it almost impossible to dodge.
Dodge first guy = get hit by the second guy, Don’t dodge the first guy to dodge the second guy = hit by the first guy.
  • They shoot through walls, I don’t mind them shooting through paper-thin cover like metal boxes that I can also shoot through with weapons like a plasma gun or bolter it makes sense, but why can they track me through walls and shoot me that way?
  • No friendly fire, how do plasma gunners not do friendly fire, the most notorious friendly fire weapon in all of Warhammer 40k and they just shoot through allies.
Gunners stunlock their allies, shotgunners stagger and knock them down, regular shooters can’t penetrate horde so you can use them as cover and snipers just dome the target in front of you to hit you but plasma gunners do neither of those things and just hit you.
  • They can apply their toughness debuff even if you don’t get hit, if you’re in a bubble they will still shoot you and the plasma trail they leave behind applies the debuff on you instead of the shot itself, this is also true for if you dodge the shot with a low dodge distance weapon, you may have dodged the shot but they still apply the debuff on you which punishes you even if you dodge their attack.
  • No dreg variant/not being able to spawn in a dreg seed which makes getting a dreg only map easier than a scab only, especially now that you’ve buffed flak armoured enemies’ health getting a map with only scabs is a lot easier because they have less HP and they don’t spawn plasma gunners.
  • Plasma gunners are the only ranged enemy in the game to not need toughness to be at 0 to do health damage to you

I would love to hear it from whoever signed it off as ready for the live game. That enemy type ignores all enemy design principles which apply to other elite / special enemies.

Just to think that in the past we’ve thought that missing visual and audio cue issues are our main problem. This time around Fatshark just has given up on introducing them in the first place.

Oh the worst part that I didn’t even mention, plasma gunners are the only ranged enemy in the game to not need toughness to be at 0 to do health damage to you unlike literally every other ranged enemy par sniper.

Are you 100% sure on this? I’ve always been ganged up on to such overwhelming degree by them and other parts of the mixed horde that there is no way I could confidently say 1 plasma shot ate my toughness and did health damage.

This is in just auric meatgrinder so havoc modifier where there’s no grace period for health dmg isn’t even active

I think they’re a good addition to the game but they definitely need a tune-up. Better cues overall would be good enough for me.

Adding packs of what is essentially ranged crushers was always a terrible idea.
