One of the premium cosmetics has the Russian Coat of Arms on it

I find these sorts of comments really funny, in the end I see very similar mentalities constantly across all social media for something. Seeing stuff like “The Discord is X” and then you go on the Discord and see “Reddit is X!”

It’s just social media of a slightly different flavor in the end. Darktide community be Darktide.

we knew that when they gave ogryn the same uniforms as standard troops, they don’t do that.

And so…? Dont tell me that in fantasy grim universe may be referrences to actual reality.

Oh my

What a disaster)

It’d be like selling a cosmetic with this on it

That’d be awkward and immersion breaking in and of itself, except the this symbol isn’t also tied to the nation that directly kicked off the world’s largest currently ongoing conventional conflict, that’s now starting to close in on a million total casualties between nations that otherwise are among target markets for this product.

40k derives inspiration from the past, it doesn’t wholesale take things directly from the present. The Death Korps don’t wear actual French or German WW1 unit or political symbols even though they are heavily themed around them, they don’t have “Kaiser Mit Uns” slogans on their uniforms. The Steel Legion doesn’t sport Fallschirmjaeger unit iconography despite drawing significant visual inspiration (they use a lightning bolt, not a screaming eagle). The Catachan’s aren’t sporting 60’s era American Stars and Bars despite being clearly derived from such. Neither the Vostroyans nor the Valhallans feature eagles or aquila models or official artwork that looks like that of the Russian Federation eagle despite their obvious Russian/Soviet theming. The 40k Inquisition doesn’t use icons or personal heraldry of the actual historical Inquisition or Inquisitors, even when otherwise going so far as to take their names for characters like Torquemada.

Taking inspiration from real life is one thing. Putting direct modern political symbols from active events into people’s escapism is another.

I mean, they can all be terrible in their own ways

Only u here takes this as political manifest.

Император защищает.

thats what makes those costumes hilarious to me, its militarum soldier scaled up. they usually put some element of ogryn stupidity in too, like the Steel Legion one clearly got hit in the head helmet hard enough to crack it and lose his goggles.

And I’m not really seeing it even going through the hassle of enhancing it more…honestly it made it look more like the Fleur-du-lis (battle sisters borrow this symbol). Though the backpack is trash to me because fat shark is totally able to make effects (see their love of candles) and this thing doesn’t have a gentle stream of exhaust like Outcast Engineer had in VT2. Low effort like usual, so it sits in the store unappealing to me.

My god. Please somebody close this topic, there is politics here.

It’s the Federal Seal of Russia, by definition an inherently and fundamentally a political icon, an icon involved in an active conflict over expanding where it and its accompanying flag is flown…by force. One can try and be and edgelord and pretend that doesn’t matter, but nearly seven digits worth of people (that otherwise are largely are the target market for this product) are sitting in the ground or splattered across the landscape over exactly that.

And what? Its game. Dont buy it or use… i dont know.

If we go this way - english language is official language of USA. Now english is not usable in non political way?

Only people can create meaning of something to something.

So… its just your opinion about this. Not more, not less.

Homeslice, you’re trying to engage in some serious post-truth nonsense here.

First up, English is not the official language of the USA, the USA has no one single official language at a national level.

Most business is conducted in English, but pretty much anything government related is available and readily translated into dozens of languages and nearly everything where I grew up was in Spanish as much as English. I can walk down to the local DMV here and take my driving test in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, or Vietnamese.

More to the point, we’re not talking about a language. Nobody has a problem with the game having Russian localization/translation, and nobody I think would object to Cyrillic text in the game.

What is at issue is the direct use of official symbols of the government of the current Russian Federation, icons that derive all their fundamental value and nature from politics, in game assets.

Well its my mistake, but still i will stand on point that in games u may use something that have political meaning in real life in non political way.

How long this been in game? And something happens? Not. Wow.

why would it be doing anything, it’s not like it’s running. it got swiped out of a pile of discards and sold to your reject as a vanity piece. says so in the description. it’s probably been broken the whole time and it’s mostly just annoying hadron that you have it…

Closed for derailing into politics. I’ve alerted Fatshark QA to the issue at hand.
