Ogryn nuke don't work sometimes

Well problem basically self explained in title, ogryn big bomb sometimes don’t work and i don’t speak about animation, just now had a mission where there was zero effects at all, no sound, no blast, no damage, thrown it at bunch of reapers with zero effect, but bomb was spent. Also it didn’t happen 1st time, it occurs sometimes on any map, i also remeber i’ve seen on youtube or when i was spectating other ogryn, he trown bomb, but unlike my recent case, he got animation, but no damage. This doesn’t happen often, but considering that it’s usually used as panic button, it’s critical. Also bomb didn’t fly away in some hole or something, i was throwing it in a narrow place with reapers, seen it bounce of the wall, nothing after that.

Nothing that affects blitz, also i don’t use fullauto and keepswinging on ogryn, these are constantly disabled on him due to class and weapon specifics.

It’s mostly a collision thing. Some spots grenades can just fall under the floor and just never explode. Other spots, the grenade explosion hitbox can be covered up by very small close geometry and prevent the explosion from applying to most enemies that seem like they’re in range

I think a good solution to the latter would be making the innermost part of the explosion ignore cover but I dunno how feasible that is. The former issue is just down to floor collision being consistent

That’s bad, also since some time passed, i got a feeling that it happens more in the maps with enchanced blitz, probably due to a fact that there’s more bombs to use.

Also sometimes doesn’t even equip. In a really tense H40 battle and swapping weapons or trying to select a grenade gets me killed because it doesn’t function properly.

i doubt it’ll be an easy change given a simple step on some stairs deny damage to those standing above.

theres a nice choke corridor in smelter complex with the broken machine in the room in front, near the ending part.

tasty amount of gunners on the ground level, bulwarks streaming from the corridor.

nade went off below, nothing (not even scab punies) got a scratch from the boom and the difference in height would in real life be something about 40cm or so

All floors in all levels need a proper clipping and art pass. As an Ogryn I keep getting stuck on curbs and tiny insignificant ledges that shouldn’t even be ledges. It’s maddening. Some of them are just a few centimetres tall and completely stop my ogryn. They need to iron out a lot of the levels.

guess it all boils down having chosen the simplest form of collision or rather the lack thereof.

ogryn getting stuck where others vault (or rather pass the “clipping check”)
floors in ascension riser, gloriana and the lower starting passage in smelter complex having charge stopping abilities.
being able to swing through walls and other solid objects (im guilty of that one for sure)

i dont think the engine was made with this kind of physics in mind given the tax on cpu stuff like that would have.

can see my i7 struggle past 14 ragdolls and doom eternal with forced corpses would be a slide show.
when its about mass, accuracy takes the backseat

You’d imagine that a flat, level surface would be the simplest form but they decided to add teeny tiny physical ledges and curbs to the floor…quite bizarre.

if i had to take a wild guess, all kind of stuff from lighting to emprah-nows-what can be in place there, overlapping etc. what looks like a level floor could very well have “different values” or attributes and vice versa.

but thats just morning mania while i chug my first can of vacation-energy :smile: my level"design" phase ended with duke nukem 3d and it was wild :rofl:
