New player to Vermintide 2

I’ve just started playing Vermintide 2 after playing Darktide for a couple of years and I absolutely love this game and can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this, it’s a fantastic game and the melee combat is amazing, I love playing the grail knight with either a hammer or greatsword and sword and shield. The combat is so satisfying and the maps are awesome.

One of my fave things about V2 over DT is the character interaction. The voice lines in DT are great, dont get me wrong, but nothing quite comes close to the banter between frienemies.

Yeah I’ve noticed that too, it seems a lot more personal and it’s great.

Are the DLC’s worth it?

Id say so. The Winds of Magic perhaps least of all but still worth it imo. You should wait for Season of Skulls in a couple days and you can probably get a bundle of them cheap.

Oh that sounds perfect I’ll probably do that, what’s this event then?

it’s like a yearly Games workshop showcase, (Tabletop minitures)
the videogame adaptations usually prepare something for that event too, and FS does put their games on sale regularly, so somewhat expected they’ll do it again

I bought all of them. I personally think they were worth it in general, and worth it to support Fatshark if nothing else. But there are mixed opinions on some of them. Here they are roughly in order of most to least “worth it”:

  • Additional class DLCs (Sister of the Thorn, Outcast Engineer, Necromancer, Grail Knight, Warrior Priest). Sounds like you already have the Grail Knight, the other classes are awesome as well. In addition to the new class you get some pretty baller new weapons that can be used on the base classes.
  • Back to Ubersreik: Really solid DLC. 3 new levels (ported from Vermintide 1), five new weapons, new Okri’s challenge stuff. Plus a secret last-stand-style map called Fortunes of War.
  • Forgotten Relics pack: adds five new weapons, one per character. I like and use all of them frequently except for the Moonfire bow. This DLC gets a lot of hate in Steam reviews, because a lot of people are salty about the weapons being way too OP when first released, and then being nerfed to balance them with existing weapons. I think it’s a bunch of crybabies personally, and if you never played the pre-nerf versions you won’t care.
  • Shadows over Bogenhafen: 2 new levels, weapon illusions (all simple reskins of existing red weapon illusions, that grow purple instead of bluish-white), lots of Okri’s challenges and portrait frames. Good to support the developers, meh on content.
  • Winds of Magic: The least popular DLC. Now, you mostly get Beastmen faction, and Cataclysm difficulty. I think it’s worth buying for Cataclysm alone once you get to that skill level. Technically you also get the Weaves game mode, but it’s dead now. Still fun if you like doing solo challenges, or have friends to run them with.
  • Collectors Edition Upgrade. Buy it to support the devs, though most agree the soundtrack is dope.

Oh, and welcome aboard! Great to have you on team ratstab

That sounds pretty cool, would be nice to see it all go on sale, I bought the base game for like 80% off so that was a great bargain

I have all the DLC/content and my preference is still Quickplay Legend! And yes 100% wait for Skull event in 2-3 days.

I’m going to stick up for Bogenhafen, although there was a … little backlash… over the recolours of the weapons I think what it did deliver was completely overshadowed by the sh*t-fit some of the community had about the reskins.

2 good maps returning the the city fighting many * at the time * had been hankering for as a return to the feel of VT1, some pretty clever/quirky map design elements, a mountain of in-game achievements and a change from the Helmgart feel. I like it and at the time letting everyone play it whether you owned it or not was pretty cool.

I think the backlash to Bogehafen is what nudged the change in the way the entire DLC model worked (for the better) and now we get free maps with paid characters/DLC/skins.

Also.. Where’s third map of Gnawtooth’s diabolical plans?

I’d like to know that too but I am a patient man.

It literally dropped today XD Buggy AF though.

Thanks for the information, I’ll check it out!

Now I’ve tried but couldn’t finish it due to a bug. But otherwise it was great fun.
