But what else is new eh? its fatshark after all.
80% of the boss fight is just waiting for the shield to go down. How fun, waiting. I love waiting in my fast paced games.
Its not even difficult to make it better. Literally in the last mission they created cultists that channeled a shield around something i dont remember. They should’ve had brought it back now. The boss gets damaged, he summons his underlings to protect him, we’ve to kill them first to destroy the shield around him. Simple AF
They literally had all the assets, they wouldnt need to create even a single thing to make this boss more engaging. But they decided to go with the most boring uninspired design possible.
Personally I like how it is, feels like a fairer version of vermintides Nurgloth fight but this would be a good way to implement it into havoc or bring variation for those who went the harder path
It’s alright. Not impressive, but not entirely disappointing. The path you take to get there drags on a little too long. I think the biggest issue for me is that in auric you can just completely ignore the mechanics and just face tank the boss as ogryn or zealot. As any other class as long as you have a medkit around. This makes it an extremely boring fight with how large the arena is, you end up just using a tiny bit of space and dps racing the boss.
Haven’t played it in havoc yet. Maybe that problem is fixed there. But idk. You can’t really have a mechanically intense boss fight in this game that doesn’t show its hands at all times, otherwise I think a majority of the playerbase would crumble trying to understand it beyond “shoot thing until thing die, then win.”
big enchanter’s lair vibes for me, so similarly its a bit of a letdown getting both the draggier longer style of map (even on the first playthroughs I felt it goes on a bit) and the fatman that isn’t really around to beat on as much. also like nurgloth those last alive saves are terrible, I had a campaign team wipe on the first green ring and then it was constant backfoot. clearly the time to play was earlier in the day with the keeners that can dodge.
Its that kind of thinking that got us into this mess in the first place. Catering to the slow brainless censored insult, everything was given to them on a silver platter. Dont know where to go? here’s some yellow paint. Dont know how to explore? here’s every single point of interest in the entire game already pinned for you on the map. Cant read/pay attention during a conversation? no worries, we’ve pinpointed exactly where you need to go.
And now nobody know how to think for themselves anymore. The AI doesnt help…
You need to employ tough love sometimes, force those peanut brains of theirs to learn and fire a neuron or 2 from time to time.
But i digress.
cultists/generators/magic pimples that suddenly pop up isnt that difficult to notice. People figured out the frozen foundry just fine. And if they couldnt figure it out? Good, F–k’em let them go play candy crush or smth. Or more accurately let them go tell AI to play candy crush for them while they watch.
Sigh…All this idiocy around the world has turned me into a khorne worshipper, full of rage and hate i am lately. I cannot stand this anymore.
agreed, mostly. This game is just linear corridors with no alternating paths and every boss fight has been a shoot-until-it-dies fest up until twins, where they introduce the neat mechanic of shoot one and the other until they die together. I wouldn’t mind if they did this type of content more often and therefore allowed for significant mechanical escalation, but getting like 1 singular new boss fight for an entire year, possibly multiple years, just makes this type of stuff especially boring.
Like, from a level perspective from content that is available now assuming you start playing today, you go from some normal missions, to some really basic captain boss fights, then to more normal missions, then you get twins, then the train and the other mission, then you get this boss fight, and it feels natural in that thinking.
But for people who have been playing since beta, you have done every bit of this content for like 4 years. Some of are dying for content that pushes us and forces us to critically think. Not for a very baby version of a mmo dungeon boss who puts down big circles to avoid him. Nurgloth required more thinking, and he just stood there. Menacingly.
Having cultists channeling on him to kill to make him vulnerable would be nice. Just because it’s at least something you have to pro-actively do instead of just wait.
Similarly to the channelers, though, why have we never seen the breakable computers from the train mission return? I’d much rather be BREAKING STUFF than just holding E on objectives.
