as somebody who uses the needle gun, i completely agree. but the only reason i use it is because my OCD is completely untreated and because of that i am unable to comfortably use weapons that don’t have ammo that translates to nothing but full mags when reloading from empty.
Infinite ammo weapon which can spam DoT everywhere, and has good damage profile against all target types? I mean I’m shocked this could be an issue.
Also I would like to remind everyone the Fatshark’s view on the matter, expressed when the weapon was initially introduced.

When a weapons design team doesn’t know what a skill tree team is doing.
imagine if there was a full auto carbine style one…lmao some type of radial magazine with thousands of tiny darts in it…muahahahh
its better than the rumbler to me and it was apparent very quickly but with stripped down on it with a melee build that leans into melee kills on toxed enemies damn its fun ![]()
The issue is that this affects all other weapons a lot more than the Needle
Because the Needle can deal dmg after finishing its ammo, the rest can’t
So with needle you’ll still be able to get ammo back from itself, meanwhile all other weapons would require either to switch to melee or use a blitz
DoTs are unaffected by rotten DR, it is literally THE best weapon to deal with.
Dopefiend melee brawler is so much fun!
That’s WILD considering how strong Soulblaze has been for quite some time ![]()
Yeah, they don’t really do too much at all, because it’s such an odd range weapon to use them with. You could basically not take any blessings & it would just amount to the same overall experience, practically speaking. There’s only like a small handful that are actually somewhat decent, but still obviously garbage. They didn’t think that one through at all.
I’m willing to bet he didn’t find no rings down there.
Yeah, this weapon is ridiculously powerful. The entire concept behind giving the Scum infinite ammo is that he’s still hard-countered by heavy armor. That’s the only thing keeping the class from making melee combat obsolete. But the Needler just breaks that.
The number of toxin stacks it gives could be changed, or the DoT itself tweaked. And/or it could fail to give the DoT to Crushers on a body hit, their armor blocks it, and only headshots work - then you’d at least have to AIM.
Yeah, I’m seeing the same thing Pickpocket + Needle just deletes enemies with zero risk and no real downside. Feels like an easy fix if Do
I do think pickpocket might need a little rework. it’s cool that scum has the ability to make any melee and ranged weapon work with their overall kit, and pickpocket is part of that. But there should probably be an internal cd or melee kill mechanic, or something. It’s not like the melee kill mechanic will really stop a good player from regenerating ammo. But I do think something needs a little balancing. And I don’t necessarily have the answers. There are several ranged builds with pickpocket which can be pretty OP. The Needler is the worst offender, probably.
It’s funny cuz you could make it bad against carapace and it’d still be the best choice since it annihilates monstrosities
If they want to keep it at least usable against armor, make it require a headshot crit to poison. Hive Scum easily sits at high enough crit rate that a full mag will still kill a Crusher, but it will highly reduce its effectiveness.
