Just an idea I had, which I think would be both fun, lore accurate and help with the spawns being annoying sometimes.
A way to lock the doors on the edges of areas where enemies spawn.
Idea would be to have the player plug into the lock next to the door, with the interrogator or skull. After a few seconds of channeling the door is “locked” for 60-120 seconds or so. Enemies would then repath to a different door or entry.
There would need to be a cap on how many doors can be locked, and not all spawns would work for this either. But I thought it might be fun?
Totally agree. I thought the same thing a few days ago, remembering Space Hulk and Killing Floor. It would be an interesting mechanic that would add spice to the gameplay and greater diversification in roles. It could even be one of the special abilities of a possible fifth Class, the Tech Priest.
Unfortunately, such a feature would modify the gameplay too much: of course, “too much” for what seems to be Fatshark’s current standards. I fear that, now and in the future, we will have to settle for simple roughings of the gameplay structure, without radical changes.
Oddly enough, there’s a door in Obscura den just before the breach charge that enemy seem to not
be able to open for some reason. It’s pretty good strategy to ignore the last wave, run inside the room and close the door.
