I did make a post in the past sharing my thoughts on this season, to which I actually enjoy the mutators from this season and they’re kinda awesome IMO, but these combination of mutators limit build variety so much, even more than Season 2 and Season 3.
Rotten Armor is… actually “fine” The main issue with Rotten Armor is when they get mixed with the other 2 available mutators, but it still needs some changes itself.
- Rotten Armor enemies should be immune (or have a huge resistance) against DoT and Purgatus Flamer + Inferno Staff
- Rotten Armor enemies should actually be weaker against ranged. Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a modifier that encouraged build variety? Because this is how we could do it!
Purple (The Encroaching Garden) was a really really cool mutator back in 2.0 in my opinion, because it didn’t exactly “make” enemies more durable, it forced you to kill specific targets to be able to get through better. Rotten and Stims makes this an issue because the Purple enemies will basically also be Rotten 90% of the time, so this modifier needs to be disabled as long as there are other modifiers that give Elites any sort of resistance.
Stims is cool, but too complex and 3/4 stims are nothing burgers, with only the blue one making enemies a threat (by making them even more durable…). Guess what’s the worst experience has been so far? Yes, purple bulwark with blue stim. Stims need to be reworked in the following way:
- Blue: +20% Movement speed, +30% Melee Attack Speed, +10% Ranged Attack Speed
- Red: Complete stagger/supression immunity (Instantly get the Final Toll mutator on themselves alone, red aura effect included)
- Green: (Elite exclusive) Full heal on themselves, become a nerfed version of Encroaching Garden (Heal enemies around them, 600 HP/S compared to the 1200 HP/S of Encroaching Garden, and they also get either the Purple or Green aura effect around their head).
- Yellow: (Gunner / Reaper / Shotgunner exclusive) Allow these enemies to use their “Career Ability” every 35s, which would be very similar to the currently not utilized Scab Radio Operator, but in this case, spawning 1 bomber, 1 flamer and 5 normal shooters of their faction (Scab/Dreg). There can’t be more than 2 Yellow Stim members alive at a time
A lot more simplified, and all of them have an impact now, without it being extremely ridiculous
Cranial Corruption is meh, but I don’t really have an interesting way to rework it so, I’ll let it be
The question is, what should Purple be replaced with? Well, Warp Rift, of course
Warp Rift is a modifier not enabled yet, but apparently it works VERY similarly to “Twin Blight” from Vermintide 2, which has a possibility of spawning smaller enemies on the death of an enemy (So something like a Crusher dying has a chance of spawning 2 Maulers, and so on so on). I think this could be a cool one to replace purple, even if it has the chance of making infinite cleave an issue again
