To elaborate…so many systems in this game seem to be completely anti social(in game, ie penances) or anti getting what you need. It pretends to give you stuff, but the rng is so bad that you might not even see a wep you need, let alone with decent stats or blessings. Cant share weapons, i cant go, ok thats a great axe, but its no good on my current class and the build i am using but i could totally give that to my zealot and be happy, nah, cant do that.
It just feels like alot of design choices were made by someone or someones that actually hates the ppl who play their game and wants to make it as frustrating as possible. someone 9is having a laugh at all this. why is that person in charge? come on. they cant all be that sadistic? surely…
Mobile game design philosophy crammed into a “AAA” gamme. I mean the bones are good but everything else surrounding this game is lazy, slapped in without thought, and/or non existent.
They had years from VT2 for feedback on what the community was looking for in their game. They ironed out VT2 and saw where their launch went bad, and THEY DID IT ALL OVER AGAIN. I mean come on FS. Doesn’t make sense.
If this is true, it’s crazy that Tencent can exert this much power for only owning what, like 10% of Fatshark? The other suits must all just be in agreement with Tencent or too afraid of losing their money. Is the best way to get money not to encourage people to buy the game in the first place? Hard to do with a “Mixed” steam rating I’m sure. This mentality never made sense to me, for example how did BF2042 even break even on a game that was universally disliked.
This is correct. Tencent is the majority holder of Fatshark. They own the lions share of the company. I swear it’s weird to see peoples brains just slip off this fact
Ahh. I don’t think Wikipedia was updated the last time I checked. RIP FATSHARK. That actually makes me so sad. They went the way of Volvo (now also owned by a Chinese company). Money > quality I guess.
Because live service games are literally NOT made to be enjoyable as a first priority. They’re made to sustain “Engagement”.
There’s been plenty of studies on this lately. At some point, the bean counters and executives realized that there’s an almost 1:1 correlation between time played and money spent. So, they use all sorts of weird RNG tactics and psychological conditioning to keep you online, whether you’re having “fun” or not.
“Enjoyment” is ancillary. Think of all the time people spend grinding MMOs or gacha games. Welcome to the future of gaming.
The game is designed by people who do hate players, at least.
So many years perfecting Vermtinde 2 and they threw everything they learned out the window in the next title in the genre. They even degrade further by adding a premium cashshop, filled with the classic modern gaming industry shenanigans in it, in order to squeeze out a few extra bucks instead of focusing on promised features.
Yea if anything tencent is the culprit here. Doesnt matter what anyone at fatshark learned if they cant call the shots. I spent some time living in china watching tencent grow from little QQ games into what it is today and i havent seen anything but moneymaking tactics come from tencent. I was very sad when they bought majority in fatshark
Yep. The system that are supposed to reward players are designed in such a way that it feels scummy and predatory.
Why are players expected to wait at a shop for multiples of hours at a time, hoping to get gear they want as opposed to …idk being rewarded immediately for completing a mission like Vermintide 2
Why are penances designed in a way that encourage actively working against your team
Why are currency and crafting materials not shared by account rather than character?
It feels like a scummy and poor way to artificially inflate player retention. It’s not working. I am getting increasingly annoyed by the existence of its design and will refund come the two week mark should nothing change
All this is independent of releasing this product without gameplay features also. $40 for a grossly incomplete product
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The day one toughness change (that broke the game) by the devs was a complete f you to the community/playerbase.
Brother, everyone literally calls us Rejects. If that ain’t it I don’t know what is chief.
Jokes aside, yes if you put aside the actual gameplay of shooting and look at every other mechanic, it is Anti-consumer.
-RNG mission menu can screw over your weeklies and penances.
-No guaranteed loot per mission so you rely on hourly shop reset, and weekly milk shop that may also be just as bad as your hourly shop.
-No weapon blueprint to get you straight into the desired weapon, or repeatedly crafting your desired blueprint to upgrade.
-More RNG crafting on the way.
-Anti fun changes to classes like preacher on release, or psyker, or ogryn
-Penance’s that basically tell you to disrespect your time and your friend’s time.(No they aren’t difficult if you have friends, just annoying, GL solo Q though.)
-12 hairstyles that consist of bald, shaved, or male pattern baldness out of whatever 18 or 20 hairs available, so most females I see in game look alike, yay sisters.
-We used to have FOMO timer, we pushed back so hard as a playerbase that it got backpedal’d, now to see if we actually have a catalogue with just everything on there.
-They didn’t plan on adding 2400 aquila option, until we complained about it.
-Crashing, disconnecting, poor optimization.
All this is without even comparing it to the previous “tide” games. lol
I like the game and I want it to succeed, so I’m just waiting for more patches. Maybe I’ll even use the cash shop later down the line when it looks reasonable.
Its kind of impressive, its took Fatshark around 2 weeks to get to the levels of artificial grind and lack of good will that Bungie spent years to accomplish.
