Is the twins mission on damnation even doable?

im a regular player pretty much from day one, all endgame gear now, i havent played anything but damnation in a year and its pretty rare that my team fails. So i would consider myself one of the at least BETTER darktide players.

Tried to do the twins mission on damnation like 30 times now, havent even seen one of the twins go down? WTF is this? is there some stupid trick to do this thing on damnation?
Also: is this the route this game will take now? Souls game style try and error boss battles that are ridiculously hard? Wasnt this supposed to be a game about fighting hordes with some specialists here and there?

There is nothing souls like about the twins boss fight. This might hurt your ego but maybe you’re simply not as good as you think you are.
Twins on Damnation is pretty much a orange weapon farming run for most regular auric players and a lot of people have done Damnation hard mode as well. I see a lot of gold rim karnak twin insignias these days. Got mine on Zealot on my 6th or 7th attempt, and 1st attempt on Psyker on day one.

Tips:

  • Rinda’s shields take more ranged damage
  • Rodin’s shields take more melee damage
  • Focus the trash/elites first
  • Popping shields spawns elites
  • ALWAYS pop as many mines as you can
  • Focus down Rodin first, since the mines get more dangerous the longer the fight gets
  • Bring a melee weapon with ample dodge counts or dodge distance, if you’re struggling to stay alive.
Dueling sword psyker can both tank Rinda and destroy Rodin’s shield with heavy pokes, knives are als good for staying alive.
  • Revved Chain weapons absolutely demolish both shields
  • Always have 1 guy on each boss, the other two are on add clear duty and join up after everything’s clear
  • Other than that it’s just about knowing how to kite and positioning

As harsh as it sounds, it’s simply a skill issue, and the content is no where near as hard as fortunes of war cataclysm was when it first released for Vermintide 2 (before people found all the out of bounds glitches to cheese)

No, not at all.

The problem is that the vast majority of players in Darktide are simply not good enough for Auric Maelstrom difficulty.

Orthus Offensive, Twins fight isn’t hard, especially with the right combination of classes and builds, so your best bet is to join Discord and form a group there.

Especially when you get your hands on the one rare Vet main who can duo Auric Maelstrom Damnation with you. It was such an intense fight but it was SO much fun having a teammate with a brain.

Your experience with the twins mission will probably depend a lot on whether you have a team of friends or if you pug it. I did the latter. To say that it was a mixed bag of results would be generous. It takes a lot of luck to get a good group, and failures are far more common than successes.

That said, it’s a perfectly doable mission. But whether you find it fun or frustrating will depend greatly on the quality of your team.

Are you aware there is a secret hard mode that far exceeds the challenge of normal damnation Karnak Twins? I don’t mean to offend in the slightest, however: if you cannot even clear the damnation level Karnak twins then you have much to learn. I was able to beat karnak in damnation in one try and hardmode in two. However i played with friends which does help a tremendous ammount.

I recommend finding some people online. Perhaps in the darktide discord. Your choice of course. Or some friends to help you clear it.

yo iam kinda new player playing almost 2 months on xbox and i can tell from my point of view damnation twins its not even a challenge the secret hard mode yes and i done it already 2 times with randoms imo u just need comms with ur team and assign roles for ea coz ea class can contribute diff
vet krak and plasma / zeal chain and chorus / ogryn gunner / psy shield smite etc…

normal gameflow on damnation isnt confined to a partially accessible room most of the time.

the ebb and flow allows for a lot of forgiving moments whereas with the twins pressure cooker is sealed.

had the good fortune of an excellent pub group without voice and i came to the conclusion that this was even beneficial.
noone miscommunicating, false callouts or simply panic in the heat of the moment.

just a real observation of how the round unfolded and anyone did their part unasked.

talking about hardmode here btw, so its def doable without a premade group.

best guess from my part would be proficiency in auric maelstrom and having a clutch sense for when its needed and when to be selfish in order to keep on your feet and not distract the others from getting shields down and the brother first in that regard.

seen groups fall when to many attempts had to be made getting people back up.

one being down is doable, 4 on constant low health is a surefire for failure

To sum up what others said, the hardest part of fighting Twins is getting a team.

Discord’s LFG channel helps best:

I see you flexing

Maybe a little.

How exactly did you try to do the twins mission? Did you just run through the dungeon normally? Or did you teleport directly to the boss using a mysterious bell near the beginning? (The bell teleport thing takes you to the “hard mode” version of the boss which imo is by far the hardest encounter in the game.)

It’s more of a raid boss than the traditional kind of boss you usually see in the game; that might be what’s tripping you up. I had that same expectation as well.

That said, the twins are effin’ brutal. Even with skilled pubs I regularly get wipes, and I don’t really find the boss encounter fun anymore - that said, I still want to clear hardmode for some bling.

I played Darktide 150 hours but got bored after release quite fast.

Came back yesterday and beaten Twins heresy, damnation and damnation hardmode being 1st or 2nd on scoreboard (failed twice on hardmode, 3 joints smoked during session).

Im bored yet again already not even after 10 hours played.

It’s pretty easy to do with a small level of coordination, but insanely hard with pubs that don’t know what their doing/don’t bother with comms

essentially we just had a single gunlugger ogryn with a twin linked stubber burn both bosses to death with an occasional mark from a veteran while 2 other ogryns (with taunt and charge respectively) kept everything kited and cleared the way through poison gas sections, it was a long fight but none of us even went down before we killed rodin, and i’m sure there are more optimized setups compared to what we were doing

however i share your frustration after watching a rando stand in the poison gas, die, then complain that the mission is “brutal” because they couldn’t follow the most basic positioning

Reading all the “dude, I beat the hard mode first day with one eye closed… Twice… And next day I beated the hard mode with my monitor turned off and three bots in my group. Git gud boy” comments gives me a hard shiver… Uhhh hoooh I love it !!! Keep going it’s hilarious

hey thats part of the fun too  , besides everyone likes a brag once in a while.

only two dudes i met in real life with a legit right to brag, one was a paratrooper getting shot 4 times during his duty and coming out on top each time.

whats a bit of gaming flexing compared to it?

ive been using gaming forums for long enough to know that about half the replies to any thread about something in a videogame being particulary difficult are going to be “yeah dude, i beat it at first try with my eyes closed was super easy”
For some reason this has alway been that way, must be something deep rooted in human nature. Pretty interesting actually, why do people give these replies? They dont ad anything of value to the thread. They dont help anyone. They dont really impress anyone bc people know its almost certainly a lie anyway. Maybe something a psycho analyst could explain…
Anyway, I ignore these replies, its 80% people lying, 15% 30yo guys who still live with their parents and dont have anything in live but videogames and 5% people who are just legit good at gaming. (source: cryptic symbolism in my dreams)

I mostly did the bell ringing thing, didnt know it makes the fight harder. Also i play with randoms. Used to play with two friends but both have moved on to better games with more content…
Maybe i am just not good enough, im ok with that, but what i dont understand is, i do damnation stuff all the time and rarely fail. Why tf cant i do this mission?

Because a single good guy can carry an entire group of unskilled people on regular damnation. For auric two are enough. This is what many people mean when they say that the average darktide player vastly overestimates his skill and isn’t really good enough for auric.

The twins are the first mission type that exposes lack of individual skill as it has too much going on for one guy to babysit the other 3 players. You either have the required mechanical skill or you don’t. And if you don’t, it shows.

There are two bells.
Left bell is normal mode, right bell is hard.
