It was in this article
“There is a way for us to dispose of a weapon as well. I didn’t talk about it because it’s a bit of a detail, but you will be able to salvage a weapon for crafting materials. So even if there’s a weapon given to you and you’re like, I’m not interested, you will always find an actually good way to use this weapon for you to actually be useful in your progression.”
Yep that’s where it was. So maybe not mastery but at least we get plastic and diamonds instead of just coins.
I hope what you say above is about right.
Still so many questions.
Catfish mentioned that you should hold on to your bricked good rolls. Do you mean that?
It was the article:
But I do agree them stating we should hold on to our bricked weapons should tell us at least this rework won’t scuttle all our weapons and inventories.
It took about 50h to roll all my reds. And base V2 didn’t have dust exchange, so you had to farm low difficulty to get more dust for more rolls. And after dust exchange, that alone took me hours to do. That system was trash with mods on same level as this trash system, just in different ways.
I just spun up my psyker for the first time since SoTMG to roll a Godwyn. 3 rolls got me a 361 that’s basically perfect stat-wise. Hadron bricked it HARD. I’ll make it work, but I can’t wait for this new system.
I’ve already done the “grinding” for the bolt pistol on my vet – spending many mission’s worth of mats RNG rolling out the blessings – but as soon as I switch to another character I’m thrown right back into the RNG stink. But if just a few missions worth of ordos could get me a piece I know will be good after I master it, I’d be stoked.
I’m hopeful that mastery will be account-wide. It would be the most time-respecting approach and in line with both blessings and currencies being account-wide.
Yeah this won’t feel good if this isn’t the case. It will feel like repeat work if you have to grind the same weapon family 3 times.
Absolutely. Repeat work that isn’t in the game right now. I seriously doubt they’d regress on this.
I’m eager to hear more details! Especially official comms/clarification about how Mastery will be earned. If they make it via little penances like “win X missions using weapon” or “X headshots/kills with weapon” then it’d be a home run imo because anyone, at any skill level, could master a weapon with the same level of investment (something that is not currently the case, with pitiful mat drop rates on lower difficulties).
That would be a huge improvement over what we have now and VT2 and even HD2!
I am GUESSING it’s just going to be tied to XP. So your character level XP gets awarded to both items in both slots.
Will also make the curio +XP worth while.
Wouldn’t be surprised if I see a bunch of maelstrom players on malice with 3 +XP curios to upgrade the weapon family in an hour or 2 to max.
O0o0o great point!
3 curios, 3 perks at max +10% experience gain? So +90% experience gain almost double? So half the time to level up mastery if you wanted to dedicate to it? (Assuming it uses XP this way).
I think this is a really bad idea. The worst part of the current system is that any weapon has random base stats.
I realize that there’s players who aren’t me who enjoy unlocks, who enjoy RPG-style progression systems in games that aren’t RPGs.
But I can fairly safely say that nobody enjoys being hamstrung by a random number generator. This is the opposite of respecting the players’ time.
If you’d change anything about the proposed system, please change this. I can safely say that any progression system you will make will taste like ash in the playerbase’s mouth if it contains even a whif of randomization.
R E S P E C T
I like making that perk worth something post-30, but thematically/mechanically I’d prefer lil penances!
I hope that with my thousand hours and hundreds of weapons, my mastery level reaches the maximum. I’ll be extremely frustrated and maybe stop playing if I need to grind countless games just to have good blessings.
This crafting overhaul is looking very unfair to those who already reached their limits in terms of crafting resources…right now I can craft any weapon I would like to try, it’s just annoying, with this new update I’ll have to grind to make a weapon good, this might be fun for those who are starting, but sounds very stupid for people with hundreds or thousand hours.
I think fatshark is about to screw the game for long term players…
This
More I reread what they have shared, the more I think it won’t be good.
3 reasons:
- at first they keep their f$%^# RNG… And WORST, there is nothing planned to mitigate the RNG of Brunt. I don’t care of locks, but this… this is the only point that I wanted fixed about crafting;
- secondly, guys wake up. They said the magic words “we remove the locks”… yes they remove them to put again some grind. It can be an acceptable grind in term of time, but it could be more annoying than what we’ve have actually;
- in third, they will introduce a lot of blessings… great. Do you know FS that we already have blessings too similar? even fire frenzy you reverted from something interesting (increasing rate of fire) to something similar to others existing blessing (damage blessing). Do you plan to introduce several damage blessing more powerful than what we actually have and force us to chase them by putting the more powerful at the end of the mastery path? that’s my fear… It would be a terrible move
Well, from my point of view you don’t address my concerns. And you potentially want me to encage me in a farming course. I hate farming. I hate XP. I just want playing the end game, and the end game is improving our skills.
So will lose our blessing library but we will get some mastery (whatever) progression as a refund.
What about our weapons inventory? What about all our hard earned “god rolls”?
Man why in every major revamp the veteran players get karked right in their arses?
FS for the Emperor’s sake think of a way to refund all the time spent and the inventory accumulated in a fair way. Don’t you get tired of karking your long time fans?
I think you keep those.
One thing that I think would help address those with massive play times is to have a universal resource that can be spent to invest in weapon family mastery points without having to actually use the weapon. Something that gets awarded on new player levels. So if you have a level 500 psyker you should have, I dunno, “mastery blocks” you could spend on other weapon family matery levels. Maybe penances give some too.
I fu-king hate this corpo sh-t speach
If the starting weapon has max 50% in all stats then WHAT IS THE F-CKING REASON TO MAX IT OUT WITH BLESSINGS?
No fatshark OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of weapons will still be utter trash, and only those whos max stats are at least 75% will be worthy of putting god knows how many hours to ‘expertise them’
Yes, 100% @FatsharkStrawHat please convey this sentiment along.
The “grind” is much better if you can spend your time grinding with a different weapon that’s already upgraded, earning points that you can then spend towards the next weaspon. Basically, make the “mastery points” you earn be generic so you can spend them on any weapon to unlock its blessings/capabilities.
