When I first heard about this it reminded me of the Darktide miniatures game spinoff rulebook background:
Two dozen squads of Imperial Guardsmen were sent by the Governor to retake District HL 9-43 Coldiron Stack. They entered through a railway tunnel but the heretics sent a train full of poxwalkers careening down the tracks and any loyalists not killed by the crashed train were overwhelmed by reanimated poxwalkers.
The Moebians are noted as controlling the railways and It’d be cool to expand on that in exciting new ways like this. It might be an opportunity to introduce more info on what is actually going on with the war in Tertium as well.
Either way I’m looking forward to the new mission!
A shorter mission AND revamped itemization?
Yes these are exactly the things I’ve wanted for a long time! (outside a new player classes & some more power weapons)
Yhere are times I really wanna darktide but do not have 25 minutes and if this mission is max 10 minutes that’d be perf.
The Divison introduced a DLC mode called underground. Which took players via subway to PvE loot maps.
“in what amounts to randomized, procedurally-generated dungeons”
I would love if these train style linear focused maps can have the train car sections be randomized, essentially creating a new map layout each time. Add in a handful of objectives to be randomly selected and dare I say new currency (or let us acquire Aquila with a weekly cap).
Additionally, depending on what the skybox looks like outside the train car, having stops or train stations to hop out and refuel or do a task maybe nice to break up this linear focus. Food for thought…
I was predicting this mission was going to be under the “Special Operations” to expand upon that category, it is also good that it is under that category for selection. “Its about karkin time” (as the Veteran says) that we have something other than the Karnak Twins to choose from in this Special Operations tab!
I like the idea that the mission starts by dropping from the Valkyrie class assault carrier/dropship “Storm Raptor”
Looking forward to the Ogryn voice lines going fanatic over the train, as well as Veteran, Psyker and Zealots voice interactions. If an Ogryn not present there needs to be a voice line that says “oh if only our Ogryn friend was here, he’d be ecstatic!”
If special operations were to be expanded upon, it’s perfect for being able to also introduce very unique bosses besides the Twins. We need to be able to go up against some new nasty “Lesser Daemon” class Monstrosities. Rot fly, Plaguebringer on a Rot Fly then when Rot Fly slain you can slay the Plaguebringer sounds like the way to do a mission that gives something as epic as boss battles seen even in MMORPGs
I am so positive about everything that I see and want to enjoy for this event and just giving constructive criticism. I’d love to add more but overall, I think a lot of things will come together.
Yes to this too, especially because its so fun for that subway kind of feel even though its a cargo train, like it can be the train yard stop much like the room we seen on one of the mission maps where we had to move the train
What lobbies are you playing where people loot? I usually have some karker spamming ‘go there’ in the lift for commiting the crime of checking the 6 chests half a step off the main route. If I ever get over 600 plasteel in a round its because I willed it to be so…
I have a very mixed feelings about timer in mission. I’m not a top-1% auric maelstorm enjoyer, so normally the game is already challenging and cornering me quite well on damnation+; adding to that timer with “area denial” enemy spawns (be it 4 bulvarks or 2-3 tox bombers) doesn’t sound all that exciting. But if the rules of spawns are changed as well as rules of map in general – I’m all in for trying it out and getting better.
You said “cultists” rather than “heretics”, is that a sign this map will only have Dreg enemies or am I just reading too much into it?
Yooo, we got River Reik in Darktide now? Sick!
Hmmm… I will keep an open mind. I am not personally a huge fan of timers, but I trust you to be generous enough! Although, I am only a regular Damnation player so it will probably not be too great of an issue for me. I intend to give you my feedback on the timer according to my experience with it.
This is a VERY good sign. Jesper Kyd being excited is a reason for all of us to be excited.
I find myself constantly “vibing” to his music while playing and even though I would love to turn off the music to hear the game noise better and play better, his music is so gosh darn good that I cannot. Its too good! I cant!!!
