Everything else sounds great too with the shock mines, Castigators Stance and Break The Line being the ‘medium melee tank’ specialties that are a tailored twist upon Executioners Stance and Fury Of The Faithful respectively (for those who contest my use of the words ‘medium melee tank’ its due to how Zealot feels like it already is the mini melee tank, and Ogryn is our large heavy melee tank lols)
By what it seems, the Break The Line talent ability is like a mini Fury Of The Faithful that refreshes quickly to do more close, short, rapid deliveries of damage, Castigators Stance is the pinchpoint melee turret camping fighters dream come true to beat down enemies
Arbites are going to be quite fun for Mortis Operations with all of their abilities handling melee horde and close range specialists (Cybermastiff may help take out pesky snipers and those out of close range)
I knew there must have been something being tested where talents were also a determination of cosmetic to match lore accurate factors! Is this a sign of something to come like the Tech-Priest? ;p
Makes me feel like so since I mentioned before that certain branches, nodes, or keystones can be a landmark changing choice for altering a characters cosmetics and physical characteristics for the role it plays
Example fits for and Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest branches where you have the baseline/down the middle of talent tree Enginseer, to the left is the Secutor branch that drastically alters the Character into the treaded, augmented, heavily armed Secutor. To the right is the Acuitor abilities that path into becoming the ‘Mech-Assassin’ where you can hack objects, tag barrels and explosive nodes on pipes and such to detonate them remotely as well as have mines since Arbites have them now too; Acuitor uses Stealth,
offers weapon enhancement passive to teammates in coherency,
wields Bladed Mechadendrites
Can opt to go into a Frenzy on command,
Can cause enemies weapons to malfunction,
Booby traps (like mines or barrels/pipes explode upon highlighted command)
So far I can only dream of the ideas for AdMech Tech-Priest/Tech-Adept yet there is already so much that seems to point towards its ability to come into Darktide more with how Arbites functions are describing in the process of things that were tested
I like the reload speed increase for the team but I also dont want us running out of ammo! Also since Psyker may not benefit from it most of the time in I cannot see myself picking this to help the team!
Does reload speed impact Psyker with nothing to reload, ie speed up quell %?
FOR REFERENCE: I’ve done the math for what kind of damage resistance the generally tankiest current character in the game (Ogryn) can maintain in combat on average. That number is somewhere between 85 and 90% damage reduction for a standard heavy hitter build with some spare nodes thrown into damage reduction.
This means with the press of a button, the arbites can get VERY close to matching an ogryns damage reduction, and that’s entirely relying on the ability on its own. Zealot can maintain around 80 and 85% dr without abilities, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the arbites can also maintain around 85% dr completely separate from that ability. Meaning combining the two you could get the single highest possible damage reduction in the game of 97%. Sure you can’t sprint, but you can still dodge and slide, and we haven’t even seen how good the base movespeed increase is, it might not even be that much slower than sprinting, so you might exclusively be losing sprint sliding which is not a bad trade off considering turning to the side and dodge sliding has almost the same effect but just can’t be done infinitely.
Strawhay may be gone, but I can still pester @FatsharkKitefin about Solo Mode. I can only hope that Strawhat trained her on how to handle my crusade without going crazy
I’m curious what bonuses going dogless will give you. How powerful are they? Will we be able to path around dog-focused talents in the tree, or will those talents give other bonuses instead?
Ogryn had 50% damage reduction during his dash before you gave it dodge state…it was pretty possible to die during that even before havoc mode, gunners + snipers or burster waves/other tank scenarios you’d think you could do you will die very fast. And ogryn will have like 150% more HP than these lawful bonkers. I don’t have very high hopes for it myself.
You can still dodge during castigators, the literal only survivability you lose is not being able to sprint slide spam to cover the gap between gunners. You can still dodge slide spam to a similar effect, you just can’t do it infinitely like with sprint sliding.
Its also worth noting this class has a shield weapon that can block ranged attacks, and castigators removes action movement penalties for things like blocking, and increases base movement speed too
You can quite literally deathmarch towards a line of gunners with a shield, even if they manage to break your block, you have enough dr to only be tickled while also having basically your entire stamina bar restored from taking hits, then you can keep pressing on
Thats just one use too, you can also just enter doomguy mode and kill things with the braced arbites shotgun whilst taking almost no damage and moving/positioning pretty fast all things considered
I think FS could have saved themselves and everyone else a lot of mathing and white room number crunching by just making the stance a bubble shield for temporary invincibility like the traitor captain’s and Warrior Priest Saltzpyre’s
I mean with the number its at there not much number crunching to do that ability that really matters
Its pretty easy to understand “BIG ASS DR NUMBER” on its activation, and you definitely feel it lol
Its like take a sniper shot, burster, or overhead to the face and not break toughness levels
I’m hungry for info on why there isn’t a Melta gun, or any kind of Volkite gun, no Plasma pistol, no longlas or sniper of any kind, las or bullet, why there’s no heavy bolter for the Ogryn, and of course, I’m also hungry for info on why that Tempestus Scion outfit in the game files hasn’t been released yet, just like how the Relic power sword and the 2h Force sword were in the game files since Day #1 of Beta 2, and it took two years for them to get added.
What could be the reason for why it takes THIS LONG for you guys to add anything new to the game? What are you guys doing? Why the obscenely long delays?
