In Video Options: what is Global Illumination

If I wanted to maximize performance, do I turn it LOW or HIGH.

It’s when rays of light bounce of a surface and illuminate other surfaces. Basically how you can have something in shadow not be 100% pure black despite no lights being pointed toward it, it’s receiving light from bounce light.

low GI = less rays and less gpu heavy I assume.

Turning it to low will increase performance. Your choosing how many light particles and waves were used to illuminate the environment your playing in. The higher quality your light map the more realistic the sun is.
