Hi. The Expeditions have alot of technical problems, but when they work I think they provide enough of a different experience to justify playing one mode over the other. I think it would be nice if existing tile-sets were recycled into Expeditions nodes and vice-versa.
I do not think all future Expeditions style content has to be a time limited tech remnants scavenge where you have 3 zones separated by airlocks that function as stores. There could be scenarios in the Void where you have to help keep a producing Mobian Steel, or maybe one representing a territory battle in the Lower Hive with ganger support instead of Deadsiders.
I think anything is fine long as the important design points remain; there’s value in being able to navigate quickly over uneven terrain, and a factor of judging risk and feeling out “what can I get away with?” The ladder makes playing on Malice with off-meta builds interesting, with the ability to opt-out of going MAXIMUM GREED if you realize the team is probably going to fall apart.
It is a bit annoying how easy a game can fall apart on extraction if your team isn’t made up of people who can ignore ranged enemies. The extraction is always a relatively flat and exposed space that gets immediately surrounded by gunners and Reapers, but at least one person has to stand directly on it. I think expanding the valid LZ zone wouldn’t terribly neuter the experience(especially since people tend to crowd an objective even with 5 snipers laser sights aimed directly at it)
When the technical issues are sorted out (so many DCs and random mission failures) I will generally feel positive about this expansion and look forward to it being lightly added on to and tinkered with in the future.
