I disagree. Duellist relies on dodge… if you go for blocking, duellist means just a lost point.
The thunder hammer from Space Marine 2 is soo satisfying, I do wish Darktide brought it up that Visceral/Impact kind-of level, its a miracle the zealots arms don’t rip off every time they charge swing.
Phra being Phra lmao, if a build is bad it is bad.
its 50% weakspot and/or critical damage with zero cooldown literally every build should have it
It’s for having fun on monstrosity maelstroms, the abysmal maniac dmg prevents the hammer to be useful on havoc.
How much I lose by not picking duelist?
Both crits and weakspot has around +60%, with crit weakspot being at +100%. Stalwart is mostly there to feed invocation, and as such, enable fotf spamming, with which, you will usually end up around 30% crit and 60% WS distribution. Riposte usually nets me around +10% crit on average, implying a 50% uptime on a blessing that virtually functions the same as duelist, altho a bit longer duration at 6s as compared to 5s.
At 50% duelist uptime, it would give (100*.18+60*.22+60*.42)*.5=28.2, which is most likely a tad lower than that, so let’s settle for 25%, which is a very respectable number for the cost of 1 talent point.
But, since I only use it vs monstrosities, the 20% unyield is gonna be as consistent, if not more, since you won’t proc dodge talents vs a BoN, whereas the 25% close-ranged dmg let’s me onetap mutis with the shottie. Is it necessary? No. Is it fun? Hell yea!
Quietly mentioning the fact that pugging havoc you will most definitely be running into a lot of smykers, shield oggies, chorus zealots and nade spam vets, and with all that CC, having a consistent uptime on dodge based talents becomes ever-increasingly difficult.
Is duelist extremely strong? Definitely. Is it a must pick in every situation, everywhere, no matter what? Absolutely not.
It does feel good, but the charged attacks lack some damage for the time you spend on them.
I agree with this… Duellist is (too) strong. It doesn’t mean it is mandatory.
I would say that I always pick it if the weapon will permit me to dodge a lot (Rashad/antax combat axe, tact axe, combat blades etc.) but I won’t take it if I won’t rely on dodges (achlys combat axe, relic blade by example).
Must say that I have not gone for a Thunderhammer with a crits build. Every time I took a TH, I have not picked duellist.
Thanks for all the advice on aiming (changing height and all). I do aim, but it’s difficult for me to undo years of practice aiming for center-mass. It’s just second nature.
As for Duelist, I know it’s going to be nerfed soon. I can feel it. So in order not to be angry when they do, I won’t use it.
no duelist is wild. BP on thammer is even wilder
My math was wrong too, as it only buffs crit and WS by 50%, while I calced with 100%, so
(100*.18+30*.22+30*.42)*.5=18.6%
Do mind, this is with stalwart, without piety, its efficiency would dip even lower. A far cry from being mandatory if you ask me.
It’s aight man, don’t let numbers skew your opinion.
I just tried a Martyrdom build with the Crucis. It was terrible.
The missing Toughness, Health and Stamina from Curios that had to be replaced by Wounds could really be felt.
In one mission I instantly died when I got surrounded by the Moebian horde and my stamina ran out as I tried to extract myself.
In another mission I was killed by an armored Rager and 5 trash mobs that somehow blocked all my attacks directed at the Rager so he just mowed me down.
The last mission I survived, but not without going down twice because of Gunners eating all my Toughness and Health before I could get to them.
Martyrdom Crucis, no thank you.
wow good job you multiplied stuff. still doesnt change the fact that BP is not great for thammer.
and if you had any reading comprehension you would know that OP started out building BP and wants something else.
Martyrdom is really strong.
I don’t know how others use it, perso I use it with this combination: 2 curios +1 wound, 1 curio +17 toughness.
All curios have also +5% toughness.
And you need a good TDR. Perso I always go for crits for that (with Scourge - Enduring faith). Dodge is the other solution (with Good balance).
However, I am not sure what I would do that with Thunderhammer. As this is a weapon I don’t like, I cannot advice something.
And if I don’t like it, that’s just cause Shock & awe doesn’t work like it should. As a result, the TH is bad against anything that is a crowd
I hate to say it but that doesn’t sound like an issue with the weapon or build to me. Just use the regular heavies and chain em, they crowd control anything but multiple crushers/bulwarks extremely well, ESPECIALLY with headtaker/slaughterer, ESPECIALLY with martyrdom speed
Interesting. I was not using Heavy attacks except on large single target because they are too slow and don’t do cleave damage to second and subsequent targets. They just push them around.
you kinda shouldnt use normal lights on curcis unless you know exactly how much hp is left on a target clear > unactivated heavies
single target activated heavies/lights depending on armor
I believe the damage calc is not up to date but should be close enough to illustrate. Here’s the damage table for Crucis heavies:
First column is body shot damage, each row is a subsequent enemy hit by the swing. There’s certainly pretty heavy drop-off but you do actually damage everything hit by the swing.
Spamming heavy attack is a staple for T Hammer. If Martyrdom isn’t to your taste IJ can also help boost that attack speed to help make the heavies safer.
Inxexorable Judgement is a Talent I have never used before.
I do not understand how I could use such a Keystone. It changes the dance.
What they try to explain you is… more attack speed = more swings = more stagger / deaths = less hits to you.
That’s why, with a slow weapon, the attack speed is so important.
This point I know it… Achlys CA has same problem…
Eh not really, you just play as usual and enjoy nice bonuses for both your ranged and melee weapon. You’re gonna be running around between encounters and any weapon is gonna have to dodge stuff. For T Hammer you can bring a brauto or IAG and use it to help you mow down rager groups that are annoying to deal with in melee, meanwhile having at least some extra damage and attack speed for your melee attacks most of the time.
