Hotfix #51 (1.5.4) - Patch Notes

modded realm would be very cool
we need to have this for extra content, and new challenge
the game needs it

so that we can also create our own new talents, nerfs/buffs etc. just like in VT2 to add more content by that point of view

Hello there, just in case anyone has the same issue.
If you play with nvidia dlss and fsr3.1 frame generation i had the experienced with this update to have 80Āŗ temp with that setting when the temp before the update was 55-60Āŗ
To make this works again. Deactivate nvidia dlss. Activate fsr 3.1 and fsr 3.1 frame generation.
Then deactivate fsr 3.1 and set on nvidia dlss. It will work perfect again mantaining high fps and low temperature.
im playing wiht rtx 3060ti. 55Āŗ and 90-100 fps (capped to 90 max fps on settings) with 2k resolution.
Cheers.

This is an extremely important thing to consider. My boyfriend said to me once something along the lines of ā€œYou do realise that as a Damnation main, youā€™re probably in the top 20% or so of Darktideā€™s playerbase, right?ā€

I like to keep my balancing suggestions extremely grounded and (as you said) like a scalpel rather than a sledgehammer. There are takes on both sides of the Plasma Gun argument that I strongly disagree with. On one side, you have noobs who obviously rely on their overtuned Plasma Gun as a crutch to carry them through Damnation+ā€¦ and on the other, you have the EXTREMELY vocal sweat minority who actively look down their nose at anyone who canā€™t solo Auric Damnation.

Iā€™m just saying to anyone who can solo Auric Damnation that you do not represent the majority of Darktide players, and the game shouldnā€™t be balanced entirely around Auric Damnation just to suit you.

Yes exactly this, weapons shouldnt be balanced around the top 1% of players. but people will still continue to cry though because thatā€™s about all they know how to do. People playing the game how they want and using the weapons they want is ā€œruiningā€ their experience, boohoo stop f*cking playing then or grow up and act like a sensible human being and just play the damn game its really not that deep

The game has seven difficulties and a million modifiers. Why canā€™t we do something with them? Why canā€™t people lower themselves to a comfortable level? It feels more like players who want a real challenge are the ones who are looked down on because someone who mains Plasma or Psyker wants to continue to warp the experience of 3 other people on the hardest mode the game will (randomly) allow people to play. People can always lower the difficulty if the highest is not fun but if the highest is not fun then the solution is to uninstall.

Iā€™m fine with that if itā€™s super ammo intensive and unwieldy to the point where itā€™s a dedicated anti carapace / unyielding weapon and shooting anything else a massive kick in your ammo economy

You know, what the Boltgun change should have been, instead of a ridiculous spray and pray noobtube 2.0 buff on steroids

The biggest issue with your argumentā€™s that this game rewards players for playing higher difficulties when it really shouldnā€™t. This feature incentivises players to join difficulties out of their depth so that they can level up faster and get more rewards per mission. Until thatā€™s fixed, many casual players simply wonā€™t play on their most competent difficulty.

As someone whoā€™s extremely comfy on Damnation and can solo it with some difficulty, I accept that this game shouldnā€™t cater exclusively to people on my level. Auric Damnation having such a high reward will inevitably lead to players who canā€™t actually handle it joining because they want to maximize the reward they get for the time they put in.

On top of all that, Sedition and Uprising are just pointlessly easy once you complete them for the first time. Most players tend to stick around Malice.

You canā€™t exactly look down on someone whoā€™s above you. What Iā€™m saying is that if you can solo Auric Damnation, good for you, but you shouldnā€™t expect the gameā€™s fundamental balancing to revolve entirely around you being able to solo the highest difficulty because you ARE (in fact) part of a very small minority of the Darktide playerbase in that case.

First off the lower difficulties are probably too low for even bad players, honestly. Is there a point to even playing the game on anything less than Malice? Thereā€™s so much time between engagements on the first two tiersā€¦

Secondly: I love that for some reason itā€™s always left to either the majority of the players who are having fun to drop difficulties or the devs to arbitrarily increase difficulty, but somehow the onus is never on the players wanting a challenge to alter how theyā€™re playing.

Play un-optimized builds. Play with no trinkets and grey gear that hasnā€™t been empowered.

Work for youā€¦ me I have got ugly graphicsā€¦ blur that happens on parts of the screen (and with elements not blurred)ā€¦
Tbh, I change my computer this or next week.

If I canā€™t find a solution, I will wait for a patch and play something else.

I crash often when launching a mission alsoā€¦ great patch

And chat box is not fixed. You can still be blocked and canā€™t type in chat.

Really I love this updateā€¦ :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Seeing that menu blur is genuinely painful to look at and I couldnā€™t imagine playing in that. That sucks.

I canā€™t run the game on anything other than DLSS (which is fine, since I am running an RTX3060ti) without it shoving itself into a corner unless Iā€™m running native resolution, so the new fullscreen option they have isnā€™t working correctly anyhow.

Iā€™m on 4080 and iā€™ve never been able to turn ray tracing on or itā€™s guaranteed crash every 10 minutes so you know, make peace with it

I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever crashed outright with ray tracing onā€¦ but Iā€™ve wanted to HAVE the game crash what with the poor frame pacing and terrible frame rate as a result of turning it on.

The game really is not well-optimized. Itā€™s gotten a bit better over the years, but itā€™s not ā€œgoodā€.

Only thing that runs worse on my machine is Helldivers 2 (also definitely suffers from frame pacing issues).

Space Marine 2 runs like a frigginā€™ dream, no pacing issues, 60 feels like 60! Itā€™s incredible.

ray tracing does barely anything, not worth the fps loss

How?

All I see is window and fullscreen. This update has broken running 1440p on a 4K monitor for me. Especially annoying trying to troubleshoot when at 1440p the mouse cursor is not matching where it shows on screen.

Edit: Mod issue. Still figuring out which one of my mods that worked fine yesterday is ā€œthe causeā€

seems that launching without mods has fixed things. Everything is back to normal with my mods loaded

maybe they should fix spawns and events in the game and rebalance difficulty rewards? If weā€™re really gonna have a discussion about the reward system built into the game, why do we have to hold its current design as law? They could with little to no effort just make heresy reward the same as damnation, then scale malice and below to a similar reward system. The progression of this game is pretty terrible, with difficulties being balanced around being accessible at level 5 or 15. And with auric modifiers being built on rare modifiers that are available in pre-auric, but readily available at any given moment. This would allow for much better progression, with the game properly scaling with the ability of the player.

If they rebalanced the rewards so that they peak with heresy, then they can properly design damnation as a difficulty around being level 30, having fully kitted characters and a strong understanding for the game mechanics, then the modifiers come into play by cranking the difficulty even further. They could even scale the spawns of heresy up to current damnation, and malice up to current heresy, and now sedition difficulty is the new malice, bringing a purpose to all difficulties at this point.

I agree on everything but the spawn rates being increased. I strongly feel that adding more enemies to ā€œbalanceā€ the game is an extremely lazy approach that the devs have actually already explored since the Class Overhaul and it has thus far proved to be a very bad idea. Darktide would benefit greatly from slower gameplay with significantly less but more individually threatening enemies. You know, like Vermintide 1 had.

An example of my ideal metrics would be only 4-5 Scab Gunners being able to spawn at onceā€¦ but in turn they could lock down an entire area, thus completely halting your advance and actually forcing you into a retreat. Or only 1-2 Crushers spawning at a time, but theyā€™d effectively be a low-tier Monstrosity. That sorta stuff.

same here.

except for this part. If for example I launch at 1440p on my 4K monitor, it uses about as much space in the top left as youā€™d expect without scaling, except my cursor still thinks itā€™s running at 4K, using the whole screen but is misaligned with everything I try to select.

Edit: appears to be a mod issue. Psh worked fine yesterday smh

Launching unmodded, then quitting and launching with mods appears to have fixed it
