Havoc - Add difficulty without just nerfing the player!

Looking at the possible mission modifiers for Havoc mode… i just get a massive sense that it’s an artificial and lazy increase to difficulty.

up to -75% ammo from pickups? (this removes basically all ranged builds from the mode)
up to x2 enemy health?
up to x2 melee attack speed?
etc. etc.

These are boring and just sound like they’ll turn the game into a slog-fest that will make all but a handful of builds non-viable

There’s other ways to make the game harder than just making enemies bullet sponges and bleeding the player dry of all resources.

First idea that came to mind that doesn’t seem too demanding to implement:

-‘Nurgles Chosen’ enemies which are buffed up existing Elites / Monsters with a bit of a glow to make them stand out , they’d be a bit bigger (10%?) and somewhat tougher to take down.

These can spawn frequently and would apply the current available Havoc modifiers, but only to nearby enemies making encounters much harder, while still allowing actual counterplay.

Examples would be:
-Chosen that can buff attack speed and shooting speed of nearby enemies
-Chosen that can buff movement speed of nearby enemies
-Chosen that slow nearby enemies, but make them highly damage resistant
-Chosen that cause nearby enemies to bleed corruption

etc. etc. etc.

This adds the challenge, but crucially provides a way to overcome it with skill and strategy by prioritising and eliminating the Chosen or playing around their effects

I hope something like this comes anyway, not just to Havoc mode… but since Havoc is the latest thing and it looks like it’ll be a bit sad, now’s a good time to think about it!

anyway, back to purging heretics!
