So I got the title for free; I had already spent the new required amount of salvage previously, so I got it when I logged into the game today = free.
Dunno what to think about it to be honest.
On the one hand, I think it was the right choice because the old requirement was completely absurd (the one that came up with that numbers need to get their mental health checked), but on the other, I feel bad for @MadMartigan and others who grinded like madmen to get it.
Yes it’s a bittersweet change. Bitter - because it was the absolute worst experience of my entire 2k hours of DT but I did it anyway from compulsion and only now they decide to change it…many weeks after release. Sweet - as no one deserves to have to do that horror show so I am glad for other players.
I think they could at least give us a small cosmetic or something by way of apology. It was a truly miserable experience.
Poxbreaker is still one million it’s the skullframe that got slashed to 500000 which really annoyed me when it happened, I was at a little over 500000 at that time and was happy to have something to grind for but they ruined it by the time the poxbreaker title got added to thr game I had already passed a million so I just got immidiatly, I want a penance for 10 million kills and 50 million kills and so on.

I totally get you understand, and although we can all agree that the old version of the penance was unhinged dev behavior, it was still a major accomplishment given how soul-crushing it was to complete.
I did try to get Salvage Lord, but I gave up along the way and I really liked expeditions at first, but the bad random teammates (sorry, not sorry) and the penance requirements ruined the the fun of the game mode.
I did get Poxbreaker and Skull Hoarder OG!
Didn’t really think about it much.
Just killed lots of heretics and got it while having fun compared to Salvage Lord that was not designed to be earned passively unless you were only going to play Expeditions for several hours.
Yeah why didn’t they just add a new frame for 1m kills?? All they had to do was add even more skulls that go around the entire frame…would have taken a day of work and review.
while i dont go out of my way for any (almost any, did the dakka ogryn one and hated every match of it) “penance” i dislike the fact of been given something for “free” even more.
stuff like that is like restarting the timer mid race for the “late starters” while in this particular case the organizers found their tracks being littered with glass shards and razor blades to be needlessly obnoxious.
why not making for a more pleasant track before even starting the race though is beyond mortal comprehension for it is only in the wisdom of those consuming 3 cans of surströmming on a monday lunch break.
Same, actually - I have finished the 20K milestone today, the patch rolled in, and I was surprised.
I do not doubt this might have been one of the factors for developing expeditions, but frankly, the game more than anything is making money by bringing in new players, and the mode kind of does appeal to a different niche than Adventure maps, but with FS having little experience still with that gameplay formula, it is some flawed potential.
Even though I enjoyed expeditions (before the scrap penance totally ruined it for me), I have to agree with this. I would have 100% chosen a new map pack and unlocked modifiers over expeditions.
I got it just playing the game mode because I enjoyed it. I also hate the idea that the mode is somehow boring, like you cannot get anywhere near this level of action without playing havoc where a bunch of disgusting modifiers make most of the combat skillset irrelevant, and then you’re stuck playing whatever 5 maps they let you play that season. Its even a great warm up to going there fighting tons of elites and bosses at once, instead of the usual auric adventure of ‘here’s 45 specialists please die someone’ every 2 seconds with little other enemies killed but groaners. But then again you can hand people 1000 random Lego bricks and they can’t imagine a single thing to build with no instructions, so a similar thing happened here with expeditions.
