I have friends that flat out refuse to play Darktide because the ranged combat feels so bad compared to modern FPS games, there’s several issues that make it incredibly frustrating.
Fire mode Toggle - Locking fire mode to ADS feels terrible, it’s very unintuitive at times and ruins the feeling of many guns.
Automatic weapons can’t be single fired at their max firerate when clicking - There’s a really weird ‘lockout’ between clicks that stops weapons like the recon las-gun from correctly firing at their max fire rate if you click several times in quick succession. Why? It makes it harder to conserve ammo and double tap single enemies down when walking around
Weapon attachments - Yeah, I know, this isn’t happening because this “isn’t COD” but it still feels ridiculous to be stuck in iron sights on most gun.
Try the weapon customisation mod from DT modders discord.
There’s only one gun that does this in game - the bolter. And there I find it extremely intuitive - aim fore precise single shots and spray and prey in automatic from the hip.
To the other complaints I can’t say much as I am not bothered by any of this - I absolutely love how range combat feels in this game.
The crappy hit reg coz all actions are determined by the server.
Enemy suppression. Not the worst thing but you’re always outnumbered so yeah you’re gonna get suppressed.
Only had this issue with the agripinaa mk1 infantry auto gun where 1 tapping a head can kill something. Most other full auto guns don’t do that so I burst fire them.
It’s still hilarious to me that Fatshark has had the base for an excellent (!) weapon customization system in the game this whole time and refuses to finish it up and release it. @FatsharkCatfishnudge
I mean the weapon customization mod didn’t add all these things. It quite figuratively just scrapes the game of the content that’s already there and allows you to pick from the options (minus the laserpointer, that one is @grasmann’s edit of a the red eye enemy effect).
Best part is: They could still sell weapon skins easily. Just sell the paint and make em actually complex enough that they warrant it. Say: instead of a one-color or camouflage finish, have it mixed up with intricate details like scarred weapon parts, wooden parts, different materials, etc.
Or at the very least have the gameplay altering parts chooseable (bayonet vs flashlight + different sights to pick from).
We modders can access all that easily, thanks to Lord @grasmann (praised be his glorious name). But console players can’t.
Hopefully, when they’re done with the class overhauls, they’ll deal with it. copium
As for mTX weapon skins and outfits in general, it’s time to retire camoflauge and paintjobs and actually develop skins that rework the look of the weapons and make the outfits we have in the numerous database available to players.
Fatshark cannot continue to release outfit recolors while charging 2400 credits for the bundle.
That’s too little effort for the price asked compared to a lot of their competitors.
I think the original idea was weapon attachment/part customization to decide on how a weapon performed but Fatshark scrapped that fun concept for 12 copy/paste versions of the same weapons with minor variations instead.
So stupid.
Those Sharkposts are getting better and better. Did you use AI generation for this one, too?
I personally don’t mind recolors, but what irks is me when they’re sold separately or never come in a bundle. Some items have 2-5 recolors and otherwise the same model with the same finish, but they are sold separately OR there is a bundle for some but not all.
For instance the classic Guardsman helmet is sold with the blue digital camouflage and the pale military green.
There is also a variant with the yellow-green jungle camouflage and a red that fits several armor types (some already sold previously), but these two for some odd reason aren’t sold with the bundle or were even available yet.
That particular sharky boi is King Shark from Suicide Squad movie and DC Comics.
I agree that a bundle of them would have been better; the Steel Legion outfit could have been sold with some color variations and with/without the camo in a bundle, for the price of 2400 Space Bucks.
As for the variants we have not seen yet, Fatshark will probably include them, but not too close together so it’s harder to tell they are the same items with the color/texture swapped out.
There are a lot of items in the game files I’d like to have on my characters. The problem is that while I personally have no problem paying for it, I’m not sure any of it’s worth the 10 euros the package costs.
I bought the new Steel Legion camo outfit (chest and pants only) for my Veteran for his Squad Leader build as I liked it better than the original yellow jacket, but most of the items I want have yet to be offered to the playerbase. shrug
I’m not asking for rainbow wings and flying mounts here. Just a bit more effort and functionality for the asking price.
Take, for example, the helmet that I photoshopped onto my face as a forum avatar. There’s something attached to it that looks like a flashlight, but as far as I know it doesn’t give off any light, and that’s what I’m trying to say: the paid for cosmetics need more effort and quality control.
Really? I thought I saw some of those skins before.
So they don’t come with the sights? But some how the sights are in game just only obtainable with a mod?
Have this issue with basically everyone automatic gun, bolter, recon las…
Makes me think it’s just bad net code, because a single click should make a single bullet come out unless it’s burst fire, and yet I can only get a minimum of two shots with the bolter.
No, it’s not that hard to click and release fast enough to only fire once, can do it in a plethora of other shooters with guns that have higher RoF without issue.
Can only say it seems like a design choice. I noticed columnus can tap fire faster than the agripinaa, which can tap fire faster than the bolter. Recon las 7 taps so slow though lol, very weird.
The bolter from the hip actually is burst fire+full auto. Two shot burst works as intended.
This is btw not how burstfire in real life works. In real life burstfire is full outo that stops after a certain amount of shots fired. I hate it when games do it in this fashion as you can’t conserve ammo when you want to.
