Gameplay balance should be reverted to closed beta state

I never use it much back then so I don’t have clear memory of how strong it was. You might be right though.

but the current one is ehhh, it’s servicable I guess but I feel like I had more success with Recon Las or Gria BAG than Shredder.

Ironicaly vet left branch needs something like that now, since game throws much more enemies, like take 30% less toughness damage from behind and sides during ads and should be placed somewhere deep in the tree so it would we viable only for marksman build.

It is the sad state of Kickback. The most brainless Ogryn weapon atm, and THAT alone says something as the vast majority of his weapons are fairly bland and boring.

No you don’t need that…
Surgical strike exec stance + other damages bonus are enough

That’s still exe stance though, which has to be weighed against 1 of the strongest ults in the game and the best one. Considering how easy it is to 2 shot them and run a build not incorporating exe, the ‘shoot things’ ult should probably do something there.

Not that it isn’t just dumb to start with, stacked against Mk3 Lucius and other things that should be doing that but can’t.

As the Marxist said, having to take Execstance was already quite an investment. You ‘might’ be able to one shot Crusher/Mauler without MF but if you want consistentcy MF is an requirement, especially when Marksman buff drop after 10s.

Crazy how some of us have been saying this since week one and now that there have been countless balance changes, this is still biting them in the ass!

It’s almost as if “having gacha itemization” and “balancing with non-gacha rules”, was a bad idea.
Who knew?!

God I am so tired of this problem, for the love of everything that is (un)holy, get rid of this BS already FatShark.

i’d agree, but also say that 2/3 of players and community of this game unfortunately see, want and play it as a competetive game.
And i see Vet Aura nerfs or Puzzles is the way the devs want people to be more teamspirited and cooperatively acting instead of what you described and what i also see too often.

Any game will have a competitive element at some point while there is a skill expression. You can see PvE game has leaderboards, so competitive element there works like racing.

And even if you will take mmorpg or a game with heavily specialized roles, where you can have pure dd and pure healer, whos don’t compete with each other, still you will have some competition amongst that role community. So it’s normal and healthy.

What’s not normal is thinking that trashclearing zealot build should compete with control psyker build.

But the more DT archetypes will become homogeneous and good-at-everything (this is already kinda problematic) and less specialized - the more mentality of different archetypes (because they will not be that different eh) should compete with each other will be normalized.

despite them being annoying and you really only need to do them once i’m happy about puzzles aswell, there are still many rushers on high levels around but now many have turned into loot mode thankfully

the console players still doesn’t care though

Well, what can I say: the balance of the sharks is on point. If you are looking for logic from them - it’s not there (or very rarely and with delay). In order to speak adequately about balance, there should be an open test server where players can (if they want to) test the upcoming patch in advance. There won’t be many of them, but they will be there, and there’s no need to even motivate them. Those who create content for the players will be the most interested, and not only them. But again the question, where is this server, or maybe I am blind)

‘Perfectly balanced’ is a straw man. Generally speaking, people who play a game lot like having a game be properly difficult at its max difficulty, and also to not feel forced into using a small selection of specific weapons to succeed in that difficulty. Balance is needed for that to work, and it doesn’t help if certain setups can trivialise difficult content for the whole team.

For lower difficulties, it probably doesn’t matter a great deal.

That said, from what I’ve read, the latest patch had good goals but less than ideal ways of reaching them, as well as a few big missteps.

I don’t see the problem. We can all still easily make super weak builds if we want to.

problem is it kills weapon identity, if everyone and everything can perform the same, then anything you do has no value

why would a player work to unlock a weapon if it doesn’t do better than the one he has

or god forbid, do crafting on that

Because ‘unlocking’ things is grinding for like 8 hours of game play to max rank…no game should ever cordone off bad weapons near the start, OK weapons in the middle and good weapons at the end. Even in this hypothetical you are already adverse to using 2/3s of the content. What a waste of development time making those bloat weapons.

Instead realize that everything is part of the game and the entire arsenal should be satisfying. Not like combat knife or revolver tier goofy but effective to use.

And toning down the impact of blessings was great. Weapons should be able to be tinkered with over time and not a literal lottery. Where is that patch at, the crafting one.

I still think auric enemies have too much hp compared to weapons damage. So many basic enemies take a full round (and anywhere up to 3-5 full rounds!) of my ridiculously powerful Kickback. That gun should cut basic enemies in half at close range. It feel absurd that it doesn’t, especially given the crazy reload time. My high stat krouk cleaver takes 2-3 swings to kill a lowly groaner.

I agree powercreep is a real issue, but it doesn’t help that the community throws an absolute shitfit each time something obviously OP gets nerfed and gives the game a mixed on steam as a result.
Genuinely embarrassing how players react to stuff like the power sword nerf or the scavenger nerf. They really think a sword that just cuts through everything and kills everything with light attacks is balanced and should be in the game. They really think functionally infinite ammo should be in the game.
Stuff like that is probably keeping Fatshark from addressing the remaining OP crutches. Kickback is one of them. To be fair thoguh atleast you could argue that Ogryn has terrible weapon variety to begin with.

this recurrent unlimited ammo is OP argument i’m hearing makes no sense to me, most missions are completed in 22 minutes, the pickups i’m getting are more than enough to make me shoot all game

if you get stuck in a loop in malestorm you can still spawn unlimited grenades with 2 talents, dwarfing the usefullness of survivalist in every spectrum

my vision of the game is alligned with the one the original devs had, you should be able to spam light weapons that did little damage but had big ammo avialability or bring heavy weapons that did big damage and have a more limited ammo efficency

dont even get me started on the bolter ammo economy that was already poor pre patch 13, and got nerfed with the Fully Loaded scam

if all you can think when talking about veteran is revolver and plasma then i agree, revolver need to be reworked, and plasma should not be spammable for the whole game

(also wtf is going on with columnus V)

EXCUSE ME WHAT?, bringing survivalist was the most cooperative thing a vet could do to his team, in what world do i live?

DT has none

fully disagree, it makes people compete instead of cooperate better.
the competition can spoil the cooperation as we can see in DT a lot.

if you play with people with same aproach and goals, fine.
if in your team people have different aproach and goals, cooperation will be bad.

edit:
and this works in both directions
you want to collect stuff and search behind every corner?
you want to rush and dont care for ressources?

different aproach, bad cooperation.

This constant refrain on this forum about how people aren’t playing right is maddening. They are randoms, you get what you get. A lot of people are testing builds and would rather try to finish than quit. Maybe they just suck. Maybe they’re drunk. Maybe they think it’s funny to loot all the ammo. These are game design choices.

The player base was massively different during a closed beta, don’t you think?
