Game cites integrated gpu in appdata/user settings file

Issue Type (Required):

Crash - During Play

Issue Description (Required):

Game constantly crashes irrelevant of what I am doing during that time. The crash starts with a sounds distortion and the game crashes. However while going through possible solutions, ı saw that in the user settings file on appdata/fatshark/darktide my gpu is identified as my integrated gpu, not my dedicated gpu. Does that mean that the game is trying to run on igpu or is it just a error in displaying the name of which graphics card is chosen?

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

No, I don’t use mods

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

Steam (PC)

A bit of an update. I have tried disabling my igpu in hopes that the user settings file would say nvidia rtx 3050ti or at least something indicating that but the file has changed to saying
gpu_id = “Microsoft Basic Render Driver”
instead. I don’t even know what that is.

Sorry to hear this @Kairan

I recommend running through possible solutions here:

I have selected the nvidia gpu for both steam and darktide and did a fresh install of the drivers. I hae no way to check cable connection as ı use a laptop but since ı have played other vide games without problem that would be impossible with my integrated gpu, my nvidia card is working properly. the darktide launcher log still displays 2 adapters:

          AdapterId: 0 (Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics) OutputId: 0 CurrentResolution: 1920x1080
                                          | AdapterId: 1 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU) OutputId: 0 CurrentResolution: 1920x1080
                                          | Processor
                                          | Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
                                          | Name: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H
                                          | Caption: Intel64 Family 6 Model 154 Stepping 3
                                          | Maxclock: 2300
                                          | Total Memory: 0
                                          | Available Memory:0

another line says:

Didn’t find a valid display for adapter 1 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU)?
Potential strange dual-GPU laptop situation?

So ı couldn’t solve it.

Gotcha, sometimes dual GPU laptop setups can get a bit muddled. Can you please try this:

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide
  4. Open your user_settings.config file
  5. Find the setting named ‘adapter_index’
  6. Change this setting value to adapter_index = 1
  7. Save your user_settings.config file
  8. Launch Darktide as usual

Please let me know how this goes!

well the game still does crash but at least the adapter id is 1 in both user settings and win32 settings (I found this one out myself after the game crashed again). Can’t escape the crashes I guess. I have been experiencing crashing connstantly for the last 3-4 days. I did everything in the “how to solve gpu crashes” page and later found out about the integrated gpu thing. Even that didn’t solve it ı guess.
